Don't forget that in this speech he said that Islam is "ready to rule the world." Sounds like a threat, to me....

When I look at the Middle East, I don't see a powerful fundamentalist state after the conquest of Iran. It needs to be done, most likely with a full scale invasion. Make the dominoes fall on the other side.

Realistically, yes we will need to take on Iran. But we have neither the political will or the supplies in place for an invasion. And if Iran really has nukes (which is sounds like they do), putting a battle group in the region would give him a big target.

This guy truly believes that the Shiite messiah is coming soon. That is what old Osoma also said. There is no way to rationally guess what will happen now.

“If we work on the basis of the Expectation of the Return [of the Mahdi], all the affairs of our nation will be streamlined and the administration of the country will become easier”, Ahmadinejad said.

Unless he doesn't return, in which case you will run your country into the ground and take others along with you.

This guy is trying to isolate Iran just like North Korea is isolated. It is his strategy.

He wants to be isolated, then make his nukes in peace and then start threatening his neighbours with them. And that is the best case scenario. Worst case he gives a few to Iraqi insurgents, a few to Hamas and whomever else is on his list.

I am sorry to say, that methinks we are going to have to take him out. Perhaps Bibi will get to be Prime Minster and will be a good ally in the act. But the US is going to need a draft and we are going to have to occupy the whole region with 5-8 million troops.

I am sure a Democrat as President will handle that just fine /sarcasm.

I have been waiting to hear denunciations of fascist theocracies with imperialist policies from anywhere.

Instead, I hear he is a "funny guy", he is a "strange man" and the usual sprinkles of "loon".

What EU countries can be hit from Iran with their present capacity?

More like 'Well, OK, so what?'

Actually, I think the response from the left is--"Yes, please, Mr. Iranian Madman, attack the capitalist West with all haste."

The left only sees gains when capitalist/Christian and Islamic countries fight it out.

We don't have the large number of young men to do that kind of thing anymore. You can't send over grandpa or grandma very often, and stripping all able bodied men out of the country would not work that well.

Look at all the problems the Reserve call up has caused. If the President did that, there would be a mass revolt. We don't want a conscript Army, to many morale and training problems.

Iran doesn't yet have a live nuke but the response to Iran using one is obvious. If we don't have the political will we damn well better get it because this is what needs to be done. I don't know about you, but I do not want my family incinerated because Nancy Pelosi would have criticized the President for protecting us. We have a lot of forces in that region and send in what ever else we need.

Anybody doubt that an attack on Iran would gain 75% support of the American people in the early going?

“We must believe in the fact that Islam is not confined to geographical borders, ethnic groups and nations. It’s a universal ideology that leads the world to justice”, Ahmadinejad said.

“We don’t shy away from declaring that Islam is ready to rule the world”, he added.

The statements above is what the past 28 years has been all about. As I continue to see my fellow countrymen argue and bicker about political control of this nation the real enemy is out in front for everyone to see. Talk like this by Iran use to be comical but now with nukes and after 09-11! Those wiretaps need to double! Name me one nation's leader who ever dared to make statements like this in the last 20 years. Were fighting an ideology. The War On Terror is the War On Radical Islam! It started the day "Iranian Revolutionaries" broke down the US Embassy gates in Tehran. Over the last 28 years the acts by these Islamic Radicals get more brazen. I wonder what the total amount of Americans killed in the last 28 years by Islamic Fascists are? Remember what those terrorist did to those Russian school children! What they do to their own people! Think of all the bombings, attacks and hijackings. Iran has their finger print on most of them. I hope this guy keeps talking. Americans get riled up when people talk crap like this. Maybe people will start taking the threat seriously.

Unfortunately, it appears the liberals and the MSM have done an effective job at stopping the Bush Doctrine. Iran should have been taken care of long ago, but now I feel the President is too hesistant to take this one on.

I'm sorry but all your doubts and hand wringing will look like so much deer in the headlights blindness to the obvious, AFTER the first atom bomb goes off here at home. I can just see all the brilliant commentary: "Gee, I guess we really didn't learn the lessons of 9-11."

If it got 50%, I would be surprised. Face it, we talk in an echo chamber here. There are a lot of non Freepers who have bought the MSM line. Many believe that the Gulf war was all about getting oil to Haliburton, no matter what facts you show them.

I mean Bush almost lost to a treasonous guy who looked like a less emotional Lurch from the Adams Family. Bush knows that the only way he could get the majority to support a war with Iran is after Iran strikes first.

Which is very bad.

Well put. I didnt want to say it, but I really do fear that we will see him launch a blitzkrieg (i was gonna say "offensive", but i think your choice of wording is better!), be it terrorist attacks, cruise missiles, or (Heaven forbid) a nuke.

If you have read some of the commentaries on the guy, he fits quite nicely into what many Christians think the Anti Christ is going to be.

After Iraq started, you can find countless quotes by the liberals about how horrible and crazy it would be to attack Iran or Syria. Their agenda has been to protect those villains from the beginning. They know that finishing the job effectively would help republicans, plus the democrats are almost all left wing Kool Aid guzzlers at this point.

But he doesn't think of himself as the "messiah" or mahdi. There is someone coming he says.

yeah, sounds like it to me too. That's nothing new though...it's in the Koran. any land that falls under Muslim rule becomes Muslim land. Any land that is take back from Muslim rule is still Muslim land, but is being occupied. That's the main beef with Israel. There can be no compromise because it was once under their rule, so they are there illegally.
