I don't understand why these politicians feel they need to bash America?

Do the politicians really hate Americans?
Do Canadians hate Americans?
What do these politicians promise to do to punish Americans if they are elected?
Do they want a war with America?
Do they want to stop trading with America

It makes no sense to me.

It's the same reason that the US liberals attack the Bush Administration's policies down there... because they have no real platform to stand behind. The Canadian public (the workers) do business with the Americans all the time and feel a great respect and admiration for the courage it takes to take on the terrorists. The liberals have been warned not to offend our biggest trading partner before by by trying to score political points during a campaign but they just keep doing it. Frankly it's offending not only the Canadian public but for once it's also offending most of the liberal journalists.

Every failing government in the world up for reelection will blame America. Anti-American sentiment begins and ends with simple envy and so every foreign politician will score points with his constituency if he bashes America. Particularly when America is in an aggressive posture.

Like the northeast liberals, many Canadians are "cosmopolitans" who identify more closely with the Europeans and the British socialists than with most Americans. Then of course there is the fact that "Canadian Patriotism" is in short supply in that country.

I think it is a tactic called triangulating which I think means don't blame me, blame them.

Liberals everywhere seem to require the effective use of this tactic to win.

People do not always work towards their own best interests.

If they believe they are "right" (like Canadians do with softwood) they may quit a game where the rules do not suit, thereby losing.

This is not a smart tactic when winning is vital.

But the end of the FTA is not the same thing as the end of Canadian-USA trade .

Trade between these two nations is dynamic and exciting and it will NEVER stop and IMO no one understands that more than these two faced Canadian Liberals.
