Mag: Ted K’s secret love child a secret no more
The Boston Herald ^ | 01/18/2006 | Gayle Fee and Laura Raposa

The National Enquirer splashes this week with a shocking story about Sen. Ted Kennedy’s secret love child with a Cape Cod woman whom the mag says he dated during his days as a swinging single.

According to the tabloid’s source, the boy, named Christopher, just celebrated his 21st birthday and is “mature enough to make his own choices about his background and biological father.”

A Kennedy family confidante told the Enquirer, “This is one of the biggest secrets in the Kennedy family and known to only a few people including Ted’s ex-wife, Joan.”

As for the senator, his spokesgal Melissa Wagoner last night called the tabloid tale “irresponsible fiction.”

Here’s the story according to the Enquirer: Back in 1983, Kennedy, then 51, took up with Caroline Bilodeau, an attractive brunette, several months before divorcing Joan, the mother of his three kids — Kara, Ted Jr. and Patrick.

Bilodeau’s friends told the Enquirer the local lass became so smitten with the senator, she “had dreams about being the next Mrs. Ted Kennedy.” But the love affair came crashing down when Bilodeau told Ted a baby was on the way, the mag reports.

“Caroline announced to the family that she was two months pregnant around May 1984,” blabbed a Bilodeau confidante. “Ted was not happy about the news. He already had three kids with Joan and knew a baby out of wedlock could hurt him politically.”

According to the Enquirer, the scandal-scarred senator begged Bilodeau to have an abortion, but she refused.

“He told her he couldn’t undergo another scandal — not after Chappaquiddick, not so close to his divorce from Joan” said the source. “He was very angry when she defied him and had the child.”

I wonder what the kid thinks of his dead half-sibling and his father who murdered her (and her mother).

I am saying I believe that Mary Joe was pregnant. I have no idea of the sex of the child. I didn't want to call the child "it". So I used the female pronoun.

But yes. I believe Mary Joe was pregnant. That's why she was taken for a drive to the bottom of the river.

Two things are amazing about this story:

First, that Ms Bilodeau is still alive.

Second, that Swimmer was actually able to consummate the act while in his perpetual drunken stupor.

How very nice of the (heavily subsized and bought off)Mz Bilodeau for keeping quiet (gagged) all these years. More payola from the Kennedy clan. They must be financing the entire state of MA thru corruption, payoffs, bribery, the mob and their union connections.

It is amazing that he was sober enough to do the evil deed.

Since only about 1/10th of 1 percent of whats in the Enquirer ever proves to be true, I wouldn't expect much of this.

Still its fun to poke fun of the pontificating fat man.

Mary Jo delivered a child by the Lamaze Method in Chappaquiddick Creek and the father was not present. The child was raised by Rumpelstiltskin.

Please people this is the Philadelphia Enquirer.

"As for the senator, his spokesgal Melissa Wagoner last night called the tabloid tale “irresponsible fiction.” "

This statement can survive for the length of time that it takes for the paternity test to be completed- and after 21 years, this has certainly been done. I can't see how this has been kept secret this long, and I have a hard time giving the report any credibility- But I can hope and pray!

This used to be true, but after losing several cases and paying out big time the Enquirer has pretty much tightened up on the truthfulness of their stories. I'm betting this is true and it might even leave a small mark on Kennedy. I don't think it will finish him off as the people of Mass will never give up their worship of the Clan.

The Enquirer was dead-on during Whitewater and the resultant Clinton scandals.

Just in case anyone was still deluded about why Democrats want abortion to stay legal, there it is... to cover up their little indiscretions where it would be politically inconvenient.

I should have said they are pretty accurate about their stories when the info is about famous people who can sue them if they are proven wrong.

You know, the National Enquirer is usually right about these things. But I can't see where the Kennedys would even care enough to keep it a secret. Let's face it, it wouldn't have hurt him in Massachusetts. Those idiots up there reelect him no matter what he does.

So, the bottom line is even if this is true, who cares? Not us conservatives, who think he's a murderous drunk. And not the libs, who don't seem to care that he's a murderous drunk.

I'm sorry, but "The National Enquirer" is full of sh*t.
