Canadian General Election, Live Thread (UPDATE: Conservatives Win!)
Elections Canada ^ | N/A

Posted on 01/23/2006 8:03:44 AM PST by GreenLanternCorps

If JimRob, etc. approve this is the Live Thread for the Canadian General Election, on January 23rd, 2005.

We have a while to go before the returns start coming in, but I thought the thread needed to get up and running.

CBC calling 2 seats gained by Conservatives. We targeted at least 4.

No worries. Conservatives are running strong in preliminary Quebec ridings

Strong in Quebec? That surprises me.

Who the heck is the Tory who turned into a Liberal? He should be drawn & quartered.

I am thoroughly enjoying listening to these anglophones butcher French names. LOL

Gosh, is there absolutely no way the West will be able to carrie the Tories to a Majority? Methinks Harper might be operating under a handicap were he to have to govern as a Minority PM.

Be Seeing You,

Chris

I guess someone's watching a feed in one of the provinces where polling is over. Nothing stops them from making a projection or releasing results, as long as they don't do it in B.C. - where polls are still open for 15 minutes or so.

It's blacked out in BC for another 30 mins. If your on the west coast, you shouldn't be reading this.

I need to know why it's a good thing that the Libs are leading, 38-12 (as per CBC coverage via C-SPAN).

A conservative minority is an expected thing. The remaining question is: How many seats for each party?

A Conservative Majority is nearly impossible in a 3-and-a-half party system, so the alternative was a continued Liberal Minority Gov't.
