Why does the NDP vote matter if the Con+BQ total is so much greater?

Per the projections, Torie erosion everywhere, except the plains, and of course Quebec, which was a Torie shocker. In Ontario, BC, and Atlantic, things just fell a bit short. My 122 Torie seat projection looks pretty good.
