Check the revenue numbers for "Brokeback Mountain" on boxofficemojo.com for Monday's showings. BM has shot its wad. It won't even make $50M. Now, on the hand, "Narnia' has pulled in close to $600M, but not a word for any awards. Do you think maybe "Hollywood" is living in a bubble or, maybe, just smoking grass? The revenue numbers for "Munich" "Syriana", "Good Night & Good Luck", "Capote" are dreadful at best.

With Hollyweird, it's not an either/or..... they're mostly smoking grass (and doing many other drugs) while lost in a bubble of their own world. It's kinda like the famous quote from (the late) NY Times film reviewer Pauline Kael after the 1972 election, when she said she couldn't imagine how Nixon won in this huge landslide because "everyone I know voted for McGovern!" It's a different world in Manhattan and LA (and other "blue" cities) except for some pockets of business and common sense......

Heck they want give awards to good movies like Narnia even when they are hemorrhaging financially. Hollywood is totally void of reality. They don't get it. They don't relate to normal people. Their lifestyle is that of Sodom and Gomorrah - that's what they understand. They now want you to either relate to it or laugh at it. Laughing at it makes it difficult to get angry at it or take it seriously - but luckily many are not being fooled - they have some boundaries.
