Bucks Democrats Put Iraq Casualty Sign In Window (Bucks County PA Repubs trying to stop them)
NBC10 ^ | 1/24/06

Posted on 01/24/2006 11:58:00 AM PST by areafiftyone

A Republican group is calling for the removal of a running tally of U.S. casualties in Iraq displayed by the Bucks County Democratic Committee in the front window of its Doylestown headquarters.

The sign includes the words "We honor our fallen heroes'' and a count of military deaths in Iraq.

Don Petrille, chairman of the Bucks County Federation of Young Republicans, accused Democrats of "using the numbers for political gain'' and said it was an inappropriate use of members of the armed services.

Democrats, however, called the sign a valid way to honor fallen service members.

"Perhaps some are more comfortable thinking of war only in generalities,'' said Neil Samuels, the deputy county chairman of the party. "But the cost of war is not just political and economic - it is personal. And it is that terrible personal cost that causes us to memorialize and honor each hero's sacrifice.''

The Republicans could just put up a running total of human beings killed by Islamic terrorism.

Just another confirmation of their "culture of death" mentality.

I'd like to see a sign to honor honesty and integrity returning to the White House. Change the number each day to the total of days that GWB has been POTUS.

All the Republicans need to put in their window is the number of innocents that were murdered on 9/11.

How do they honor our fallen heroes by just counting dead soldiers? Shouldn't they honor them by counting and listing their achievements? This is the argument we should hit them with. It's time to blow the cover off the "we support our soldiers" canard and challenge them on it.

The republicans ought to put a sign that counts the number of murders in DC and ask whether it is safer in DC or IRaq.

I'd say "free speech" allows them to display that number.

But I also say that "free speech" allows Republicans to post some more patriotic statistics:

Number of victims of al Qaeda in the US before passage of the Patriot Act: 3000
Number of victims of Al Qaeda in the US after passage of the Patriot Act: ZERO

Number of victims of Al Qaeda in the US before the liberation of Afghanistan and Iraq: 3000
Number of victims of Al Qaeda in the US after the liberation of Afghanistan and Iraq: ZERO

Number of American GIs who have died protecting US from more 9/11-type attacks: xxxx
Number of American civilian lives SAVED by those heroes: COUNTLESS!

"So why don't the republican's put a casualty count of the WW1, WW2, Korean war and the Vietnam war....?"

Good idea.

World War I (1917–1918)

Battle deaths 53,402

World War II (1940–1945)

Battle deaths 291,557

Korean War (1950–1953)

Battle deaths 33,741

Vietnam War (1964–1975)

Battle deaths 47,410

Did everyone see the LA TImes link on Drudge today about the columnist who DOESN'T support the troops? FINALLY, a liberal willing to tell the truth. I respect him. Maybe the anti-patriots in Bucks County had some guts they would tell us how they really feel.

These pepoles' sign is code for "look at all the americans you killed in the war Mr. President." How can they support the troops if they are against their mission?

The troops need their faux support like they need a car bomb at the front gate.

Republicans should put up a web address leading to the names and faces of all KIAs. Honor them don't reduce them to a political running tally.

Why stop them. Democrats are for the terrorist and against the American people and if the people of PA desire to elect anti-American pig faced Nazi democrats then boycott PA and if the terrorist attach there send no help.

I guess this means they don't honor the fallen heroes in Afghanistan.

Maybe they could post their "goal" also.
They could track it like a charitable donations thermometer.
Then they could have a presser when they reach that goal.
Won't they be proud?

I agree. Also, if you try to stop them, it looks like you find the numbers somehow dishonorable and have to hide them, which just reinforces the point the Dems are hoping to make. This is yet another example of Republicans running from a debate of facts that they can easily win.

"Perhaps some are more comfortable thinking of war only in generalities,'' said Neil Samuels, the deputy county chairman of the (local Democrat) party. "But the cost of war is not just political and economic - it is personal. And it is that terrible personal cost that causes us to memorialize and honor each hero's sacrifice.''

With a number.

A FReepin' number.

And if two are killed the same day, one doesn't even get a number.

This is what the Democrats mean by "honor".

They are beneath contempt.

That's OK, just have a few businesses put up signs showing the number of Black babies being killed by abortion, compared to other babies, despite having a much smaller part of the population. Post other signs showing percentages, by race of people in prisions, compared to percentages they make up of the population.

There are a lot of possibilitieshere. If they want statistics, give them statistics.
