It's a term that means one is being spoken to in a no nonsense way and encouraged to stop doing stupid and get on the good road.

It generally refers to a butt chewing.

It generally involves something to the effect of "Get your act together or else".

It used to be slang for killing somebody, or also slang for making somebody see the truth. I'd prefer the first, and it might happen, after dean mentioned the corruption of harry reid, and said reid was "in a lot of trouble". dean may find himself in a hole in the desert.

Probably a misstatement of the cliché "come to Jesus meeting", the equivalent of a "trip to the woodshed" or "attitude adjustment". In other words, Dean has "screwed the pooch" once too often for some members of Congress.
