SEAHAWKS STEELERS
20 FIRST DOWNS 14

The Steelers had more points at the end of the game. But thanks, to the poor calls, Pittsburgh will never know if their team is really that "SUPER".

Big Ben was just on Letterman's show and.....he doesn't think he got in for the TD.

I see that you cleverly avoided his actual statement in favor of an imaginary one. You're intentionally attempting to make it sound as if he was saying "now that I've seen the instant replay I don't believe that it was a touchdown", and that's simply a pant-load.

What he did say is that while the referees were looking at the challenged call, he told the coach that he didn't think he made it.

I hope the apologists labeling us all sore losers take that like a punch of reality straight to the gut.

You're right. My eyes are watering and my stomach is quivering. Oh wait, that's just me, guffawing with glee!!!!!!!!!!!

We won. You lost. The universe is as it should be. And now you are constructing your team's reputation for the next decade. Time to sell the franchise and move them to Los Angeles.

Not true.

The Steelers won Super Bowl XL. They are World Champions. Nothing can take that away or even diminish it.

The Las Vegas pros must have been really impressed with the Steelers overpowering performance in the Super Bowl.

The early line from the MGM Mirage for next years Super Bowl: Colts 4-1
Patriots 5-1
Panthers 6-1
Steelers 6-1

Seahawks 5-1

I'd give the Seahawks a better chance of repeating too. Given the division they play in they're almost garaunteed a playoff spot, they were the only team in the division to finish over 500 this year and there's not much reason to think that'll change next (maybe the Rams will sneak to 9-7 but that's the most competition they'll get within the division). And what serious competition is there once you get to the NFC playoffs? The Giants who got shutout at home? The Buc who got beat by a team with 120 total yards of offense at home? The Panthers who are demontrably 1 or 2 injuries away from being 1 dimensional? The Bears that let a 1 dimensional team beat them at home? Really the Seahawks have an inside track on making the playoff, on probably getting the bye, and on winning at least 1 playoff game. The should be the most favored NFC team to make the SB.

On the other hand the Steelers are in the AFC which early looks appear to have 9 viable contenders for 6 playoff spots (the 8 that vied this year plus Miami). Any AFC team that's counting on even making the playoffs needs to cut back on the drugs, the conference is going to present stiff competition in each division so winning any of them will be tough, and with 5 solid non-division winners grabbing for 2 wild card spots teams that don't win their division will probably not make the playoffs. If I were an oddsmaker I wouldn't make ANY AFC team higher than 6-1 at this point, the conference just has too much stiff competition.

'The Buc who got beat by a team with 120 total yards of offense at home...'

Aside from 2 plays; a freaky run, and Randle El's pass, it sounds like you were discribing the Steelers overrated offense;)

Of course you have to put in all those asides. The reality is that even with the worst performance by a winning QB ever Big Ben through for 1 less yard than the entire Skins offense got in their game against Tampa (123 vs 124), and we got good yards from the running game and the trick play. Not an A list performance by the Steelers I'll admit, but it certainly wasn't as far down the grade scale as the Skins in the Wild Card round.

You are Delusional.

Polls from 48 states agree that the stripes determined the game.

Surprisingly, West Virginia and Pennsylvania, thought it was a 'fair' game.

Scientific polls?

Okay, you got me.

I conspired with folks everwhere to skew the poll results.

And for some strange reason WV and PA wouldn't play along.

Honestly, I'd rather be a Hawk, knowing that I outplayed the Steelers, and got robbed on the national stage, than a Steeler who is wearing a tainted Championship ring.

you are absolutely right. if the Steelers were any sort of men at all, they would call a huge meeting, ceremoniously strip off their Superbowl rings and hand them over to the more deserving Seahawks, because it is CLEAR the seahawks would have won the game, otherwise, and they should wear sackcloth and ashes and spend the next year touring the country beating their breasts in penance for this tremendous affront to all of sportsdom. /sarc.

WOULD YOU WHINERS GET OVER THIS?????

Willie Parker 10 93 9.3 75 1

Let see: 93-75 is 18 total yards. 18 yards divided by 9 carries, equals an impressive 2 yards per carry.

How many Steelers should've been called for holding when Parker had his miracle run?

If I was a Steeler, I would honestly never wear my ring. I'd be to embarrassed.

If it makes you feel better keep whining, please be my guest. I have no doubts that the Steelers are "SUPER".

I also have no doubts that the Seahawks were not "SUPER", and they probably won't be until they: learn how not to drop passes, stay inbounds when they do manage to catch them, manage the clock, show some guts and go for it on 4th and inches, and get a reliable kicking game.

Now, as long as you are playing with statistics, play with these:

Third Down Efficiency . . . SEA 5-17 PIT 8-15
Total Plays. . . . . . . . . . . . . SEA 77 PIT 56
Average Gain Per Play . . . SEA 5.1 PIT 6.1
Average Per Rush . . . . . . . SEA 5.5 PIT 5.5
Yards Per Pass Play . . . . . SEA 5.0 PIT 6.9
Times Sacked . . . . . . . . . . SEA 3 PIT 1

I can't wait to hear the "but, but . . ."

Good luck next year.

Exception being Randle El for making the best play of the game.

that is just silly. this is so overblown, what is embarassing is the nonstop whining about it.

I've heard complaints that one Steeler held, I haven't seen any replay footage that would indicate one way or the other. Also don't forget Bus got a couple of good carries on the next possession, then there were a few big runs by Ben, and the end around. Neither run game went awesome, but both run games were survivable. Two great run defenses tend to trump two great run teams, same thing happened in the AFC Championship.
