How powerful is today's marijuana compared to 20/30 years ago?

It depends on what marijuana you have now and what you had then. There's no way, really, to do a comparison. The sinsemilla I grew (for my own personal use) would probably stand up pretty well against today's typical weed.

OTOH, there are some genetically manipulated strains out there now that would have knocked the roach clip out of my mouth had it been available at the time.

There is more potent weed available these days than back then, but most smokers aren't smoking it, any more than most were smoking really righteous stuff back then.

It matters not, though, since you can always smoke more of the crappy stuff to make up for the lower potency.

NOTE: I gave up smoking it in May, 1973, and haven't touched a joint since then.

Thai stick, sens-uh-miya (I never knew how to spell that), Maui Wowee, Panama Red, all that good stuff has always been available.

I have never bought the argument that today's weed is so much stronger than yesterday's weed.

Ragweed has also always been available.

Good example are American Indians, they have smoked Pot, injested peyote and were never violent HOWEVER being introduced to FIREWATER, alcohol they have one of the worst alcohol problems on the reservations.

Many in the medical field would like to see pot legalized.

As an occasional pot smoker for the last 35 years, I can tell you that back in the 70's there was some really crappy pot & there was also some really powerful stuff. Nowadays, it is the same, but the good stuff costs a way lot more - therefore - the average pothead usually ends up smoking the mediocre stuff most of the time.

This is the same old whine about marijuana. I want to see the results of a study of normal, productive, otherwise law-abiding citizens who smoke pot, drink alchohol, etc - VERSUS - psychotic, violent, mentally impaired people who smoke pot, drink alchohol, etc.

Now that would really tell the tale.
