Free Republic is a great place for political discussion. About that you are certainly correct.

I am not cleverly attempting anything. I will post to the threads that DU locked if you want.

The problem is that you do not know what capitalism actually is. You are not alone in this. If you are still here later we can review what capitalism actually is.

Some of us post how much we hate Bush every day. And we don't get zotted!
Of course, it's only because he's a government-expanding socialist, but...

I became a conservative when I started homeschooling. I was amazed to find out (my first foray into politics) that Democrats, the party of personal freedom, has no room for anyone who does not think state schooling is a good idea.
The democrats have no room for homeschoolers, or any personal independance of thought. It runs through everything they push, from "politically correct" speech, to "homophobia" to schooling your own kids or running your own life and business.
Keep reading. You may learn some good stuff.

He has no intention of staying here - he'd go back to the DUmmies in an instant if he could.

In before the zot? Now, now, he didn't call us Nazis or facists, didn't call us stupid, and ripped into DU.
My spidey sense isn't tingling all that hard (although it could just be the beer). So let's see if he/she/not sure/it comes back and defends his/her/huh?/its post.

Isn't "progressive movement" a contradiction in terms? It's more of a redundancy.

I don't understand how someone can be sitting in America claiming to "hate capitalists". "Counterintuitive" doesn't begin to describe it.

I've often thought about the tagline: "There's nothing progressive about being liberal."

Thanks for posting. I think the big difference between we who call ourselves conservatives and the left is that we generally don't feel those who hold leftist views are evil based on their views. Wrong, misguided, even stupid, but not evil. Why? Because a lot of us have held a postition that could fairly be described as "left" at one time or another, and, shock of shock, most of us still think the
professed goals of the left are good. Who doesn't want inexpensive, universal health care, or perfect blue skies free from pollution.
The debate is how to go about getting these things.
And most of the leftists I know think I'm "evil" not wrong but evil because of the views I hold.

Nah... The trolls regularly roll in about this hour from eastern europe and farther east. I used to fish for them until I found out how easy it was.
I throw the small fry back.

Welcome to FR.
We are kinda hard on Democrats, usually they go through a pretty stiff 'feeling out' process.
There's a small contingent of Dems here, they're more conservative than the regular Dems, and thus are outcasts in most places.
We also have former Dems on board.
(I myself was an enviro once...)
