FWIW, quite a few conservatives are in favor of ending or at least winding down the War on Drugs. For instance, that's the editorial position of National Review.
Since the goobernment doesn't seem very interested in applying force to the border, it seems to me that the elephant in the living room of the border question is that they've abdicated on the WOD.
