Damned Shame, but Money talks, and Soros has lots of it.
Legalising drugs is a stupid idea, but its amazing, some here in Free Republic would like to see it.
Demonizing plants is the height of stupidity and heresy to boot.
What is amazing is that freedom loving Republicans cannot prevent government from using force and coercion to impose upon individuals arbitrary puritanical beliefs that are contrary to established religious facts, beliefs and scripture. Herb is not evil because no thing is evil. Any attempt to demonize things is just a reincarnation of the Manichaean heresy. Our government should not be in the business of enforcing heresy as state policy. The War on Drugs in an unholy war and an unconstitutional one because it is a war upon a portion of our own citizenry for the religious and spiritual beliefs to which they adhere.
GOD MADE HERB
GOD SAW THAT IT WAS GOOD
GOD GAVE IT TO MAN
Genesis 1:11
Then God said, "Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb that yields seed, and the fruit tree that yields fruit according to its kind, whose seed is in itself, on the earth"; and it was so.
Genesis 1:12
And the earth brought forth grass, the herb that yields seed according to its kind, and the tree that yields fruit, whose seed is in itself according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.
Genesis 1:29
And God said, "See, I have given you every herb that yields seed which is on the face of all the earth, and every tree whose fruit yields seed; to you it shall be for food.
"Can the liberties of a nation be thought secure when we have removed their only firm basis, a conviction in the minds of the people that these liberties are of the gift of God?" --Thomas Jefferson: Notes on Virginia, 1782.
Uh oh. There's going to be a lot of bong water spilled as folks rush to flame you.
Also amazing, some here in Free Republic would love to see a fascist state where all individuality and independent thought is squashed.
I do think this guy is dangerous. When somebody turns around and starts singing a leftist tune, making no sense, and the person has previously been rational and generally conservative, I think Soros. Scott Ritter is the first name that comes to mind. I know a lot of people think he's being blackmailed with pictures of him and little girls, but I think Soros is quite capable of bribing with one hand and blackmailing with the other. Blackmail is a wonderfully effective motivational technique, but bribery adds a much more enthusiastic, willing cooperation.
I believe in legalizing marijuana. As for the other drugs that's open to debate. With stepped up border enforcement and crackdown on illegals, hard drugs such as cocaine and heroin would gradually disappear from the streets.
Under certain strict rules, I would consider legalizing drugs.
1. Drive while under the influence and you lose your driver's license for five years.
2. Have an accident while under the influence, lose license for 10 years.
3. Injure someone in an accident while under the influence, lose license forever.
4. If you need rehab, you get one free rehab; after that, you can live and die in the gutter.
5. Other than one free rehab, absolutely no social services or welfare if you cannot find a job because you are stoned all the time.
6. Employers have the right to conduct a drug test upon hiring and random drug tests to make sure the employees are actually giving a full day's work. A druggie has no right to a job or right to have an employer carry him if he can't perform.
7. If you use drugs, you don't get a government job of any kind.
8. If you distribute without a pharmaceutical license, you go to prison.
9. A mother who gives birth to a drugged baby is sterilized.
So, if you want to use drugs, you don't hurt anyone, you don't use social services, you find a way to work and provide for yourself, then spend your life loaded and drugs should be legal.

Putting people in prison for smoking pot is stupid.
What's wrong with letting stupid people do stupid things to themselves? Why should my tax dollors be wasted protecting idiots from their own idiocy?
I think drug use should be legalized.
Somewhere in the Aleutians is the appropriate island.
Let anybody who wants to use drugs fly there free of charge and supply them with all the drugs they want as long as they stay there.
>Legalising drugs is a stupid idea, but its amazing, some here >in Free Republic would like to see it.
Because adults in America are too immature and dim to handle marijuana, right? Or is it too "protect the children?"
>>Legalising drugs is a stupid idea, but its amazing, some here in Free Republic would like to see it.
It would arguably be less damaging to society as a whole than the War on (Some) Drugs. I'm not arguing for legalization, but I will at least admit there is an argument, and that the Drug War has been horribly mismanaged.
