I always thought we'd skip the 1984 and slippy-slide into the Brave New World.

I liked "This Perfect Day" by Levin much better than both, although it is difficult to find.

All of them were very prescient, like you said.

If you have read the Plan of Man novels (I think by pohl?) this would prevent having to sign in manually each time you change location - the planning computer would track you transparently.
