Abramoff is well aware of his peril: "In a different era I'd be killed on the street or have poison poured into my coffee," he tells Margolick.
We called that the Clinton Era.

It's the hat. It makes him look like Boris from Rocky & Bullwinkle.
To: indcons
tells Margolick that sending him to prison is "stupid," saying, "Let me teach English, history, music. Or let me sweep floors at the reservation. Instead you'll be paying to feed me to sit in a jail."
Killer sounds ready to cry like a bitch.

"I was a killer. I killed for my clients, and it eventually killed me," Abramoff tells Margolick He probably shouldn't talk like that while the SunCruz stories are still floating around.

Good point..there was some actual killing in that case. By one of Abramoff's erstwhile partners.

I still back Abramoff on this.
He did nothing wrong.
He gave Indian money to both sides, as a lobbyist, to gain their favor in future contracts they might apply for. The money is on record.
That is what lobbyists do.
It seems to me the reason Abramoff was targeted was because he was non-partisan.

You're right...both sides received money from him. This is certainly not a Republican scandal.

Abramoff is bandwagon material.
He's out, and we should all be thankful. Time to move on.

Who ya gonna trust, Jack or Tom?
Abramoff has admired Tom DeLay and his family from the first meeting with him, he tells Margolick. We would sit and talk about the Bible. We would sit and talk about opera. We would sit and talk about golf, Abramoff recalls. I mean, we talked about philosophy and politics.
The reality is, Jack Abramoff and I were not close personal friends - Tom Delay

A common assumption among criminal types is that their guilt can somehow be mitigated by pointing out the guilt of others. I don't expect him to not implicate others, of course. But I see him as saying, "I may be bad, but look at them, they're BAAAAAD!"
