I still back Abramoff on this.

He did nothing wrong.

He gave Indian money to both sides, as a lobbyist, to gain their favor in future contracts they might apply for. The money is on record.

That is what lobbyists do.

It seems to me the reason Abramoff was targeted was because he was non-partisan.

You're right...both sides received money from him. This is certainly not a Republican scandal.

Who ya gonna trust, Jack or Tom?

Abramoff has “admired Tom DeLay and his family from the first meeting with him,” he tells Margolick. “We would sit and talk about the Bible. We would sit and talk about opera. We would sit and talk about golf,” Abramoff recalls. “I mean, we talked about philosophy and politics.”

Abramoff isn't being prosecuted for his lobbying activities.

Instead, he's being prosecuted for wire fraud due to the patently fraudulent financing of a business deal he was involved in.

The business acquisition later led to a murder -- which was contracted by Abramoff's partner in the acquisition.

Pure, sleezy crook -- he's not being "targeted" by anybody for political purposes.
