Yep.

Let's see.. denial, or even questioning a UAE business venture in the US is deserving of essentially kicking out all US assets and scraping many/all US contracts in the UAE.

Yeah.. seems reasoned to me.
Yeah.. seem like great allies to me.

Yeah.. gonna go buy a bridge now.

"Denial" is the operative term. Humiliating an Arab who has befriended you at considerable risk is idiotic. You can criticize them for being overly-sensitive if you want, but it's the real world, and there is a price attached to this kind of attitude.

Let's look at it a different way.

We are allies with the US in the WOT. We provide them with bases with which to launch attacks against Iran in the event of a war. We buy their high end products that keep their economies alive. We have been running ports all over the world for many years. We are willing to go through a 45 day process review to see how we can make this deal work from a security standpoint.

They don't trust us? Screw the US.

We can alway count on the Brigade of the Clueless to join the Party of Treason's attacks on the President and the War.

The UAE submitted to an extra 45-day review. They've followed our laws to the letter, and expect to be treated fairly. We are a country of laws, not of hysterical girly-men.

The house just said "We don't want to wait for the facts". They simply said UAE is unfit to own anything of consequence, and can't be trusted.

It is THAT which has the UAE upset.

You should realise that these leaders are probably receiving DEATH THREATS on a daily basis because of their work for us in the war on terror.

If you had to live in fear of being killed because of what you do for a friend, and then that friend spits on you and says you are evil, you think you would react with favor?

You seem to miss the point that the UAE royal family -- or ANYONE in that region -- has painted a huge bullseye on their butts by offering us any support or sympathy at all, never mind military bases and naval ports. It's not a case of "gimme more money because I'm a greedy fat-ass." More like, "I feel crosshairs on my neck every day and this is thanks I get?"

Not only that, but in the current climate of reflexive anti-Americanism both foreign and domestic, I think it would be hard to make a case that UAE people administrating a port would be ANY more likely to be a front group for terrorists than even an American company. There are so many Cindy Sheehan Moore types in power these days that we're as likely to get Johnny Taliban's from an American company as we would Arab terrorists from Dubai Ports World.
