"But the majority of the attack dogs had no facts, no argument, and just a lot of personal spittle."

Here is what I think happens, or maybe it has morphed to this:
A major issue is launched on a thread. Conservatives start laying the battle lines. Elected conservative staffs, or self-interested parties starts checkin' how the threads are going. Lo and behold, it is going the wrong way of their boss! They start jumpin' in as if it is a WWF caged match, tag-teaming inquisitive conservatives questioning valid points. They try to beat them to submission. The poster trails off and disappears. They claim victory. What they fail to realize is those initial reactions is what that poster feels. Unvalidated drivel is not going to change their opinion. We've got paid party boys hittin' the threads trying to march to their own drum.

Your post is exactly what I have experienced. I hope that Jim Rob is aware of how his site has been high-jacked in this way in an effort to accomplish goals contrary to the stated objectives of this site.

And, you're right -- it is not effective. It does not change people's opinions. But it does have two pernicious effects -- 1) it makes this site an unpleasant and less constructive place to be, and 2) it gives false courage to the administration to persist in negative behavior which it would have have undertaken or would have quickly abandoned but for this encouragement.
