It has come to our attention that there are several unscrupulous business and organizations that are misinforming FFA, 4H students and others that : "The Texas Animal Health Commission requires all producers to register a premises identification"
We all know this is false information and scare tactics. It is our understanding that TAHC has contracted numerous business and associations to be paid advocates for NAIS. That's right these organization and their subcontractors are on the payroll of TAHC to promote NAIS !
We don't know all the details at this time but appears these people are getting paid to sign people up. They appear to be using scare tactics as well as using our public schools to trick children into signing up your farm for premises registration without your knowledge! They make a buck, TAHC gets another notch on their belt - but you just got the shaft. They signed you up to be on the tax roll !
ALERT ! ! Contact you children's 4H leaders, county extension agents, FFA chapter leaders and agricultural teachers tell them this is a no no. Do not allow your children to be used ! ! Alert
Word was passed to us that one business stated that they were "negotiating" with the Houston and San Antonio livestock shows to prohibit sales of 4H and FFA students projects if they did not have a premises ID.

"Gosh!"
Thanks. Looks like I have some calling to do.
When government uses shady methods of implementing a program, the whole program has to be suspect. There are undoubtedly motives within the NAIS program that are detrimental to private and personal property and land use policy.
Someone should file suit to stop the deceptive practice.

Be aware that the USDA and state agencies have been faking signups for Premise ID and they may come around asking questions to try to get you to signup. Cathy Sorenson suggests you have government agents fill out this form before you agree to talk with them, take surveys, receive papers from them, etc. Note that they are still required to get a warrant or your permission before entering your property. This is a right that you could lose if NAIS is implemented.

I guess that I'm asking what legal recourse I have if they refuse to fill out the form. It seems like another piece of meaningless paper.
Idaho Fakes 13,907 Signups
Alert - State walterj 11:21 am
Idaho is taking a page out of Washington state and the USDA book by fraudulently signing up small farmers and homesteaders for the National Animal Identification System (NAIS) without their permission. Currently NAIS and Premise ID are supposed to be voluntary programs. Small farmers and homesteaders are almost universally opposing NAIS so the government is resorting to dirty tricks to make their statistics look good so they can claim support for NAIS.
Idaho is one of many states to sign on and is fully engaged in the first goal of NAIS premises identification. With voluntary sign up sparse, the Idaho State Department of Agriculture brought alongside Global Animal Management (GAM), a data collection company. According to ISDA records, GAM has successfully extracted data from Idahos brand database, which resulted in 13,907 unique premises identification numbers. -The Times of Magic Valley
Currently the USDA and states are making a big deal out of claiming that 204,700 people have voluntarily signed up for Premise ID. They tried to sign up our farm fraudulently here in Vermont. I heard on a radio show about them doing this in other states. Many people have sent me email saying the states and USDA have fraudulently signed them up as volunteers for NAIS Premise ID. Other people have told me about being told they had to sign up and doing it without realizing what they were getting into. None of these are real voluntary signups. This is probably just the tip of the iceberg. How many other fake signups has the government done?
The government uses these numbers, which they say represent 10% of the farms, to justify NAIS and claim that farmers widely support NAIS. A mere 10% signup rate as an overwhelming support for this draconian set of regulations. Realize that you also have to subtract from their numbers all of the truckers, auction houses, veterinarians, slaughter houses, butchers, processing plants and other places where animals might go for any amount of time. This dramatically cuts the USDAs count. In reality their signup rate is far less than they are claiming and their support is far, far smaller. Among small farmers and homesteaders, the groups who will be hurt the most, there is virtually no support for NAIS at all.
Frankly, NAIS should be kept 100% voluntary - the big producers could have their trace-back program and the rest of us could get on with our lives. This would help preserve our traditional rights to farm and our Constitutionally guaranteed freedoms (see Amendments 1, 4, 5, 13 and 14). The only real justification for NAIS is the big meat exporters desire to gain more profits by shipping high priced meat to Japan. Let them pay the price for their program since they are the only ones benefiting from it.
With the government lying about little things like this you have to wonder where the big lies are
Ain't America grand?
SO I HAVE A COUNTERPROPOSAL:
PISS (Politician Identification and Surveillance System
The copy will write itself!
Let's try to get it on ballots by referendum...
Dear Sir or Madam:
I am writing to tell you about some legislation that I believe should be passed. It is concerning our elected officials and in my opinion is necessary and good for the nation.
I would like to see a law passed that would give a premise number to every elected official and also a premise number to each and every appointed official on a voluntary basis to begin with. If government officials do not willingly volunteer I suggest that you make it compulsory with a fee at that time. This will encourage all to volunteer. The ones who do not comply within a given time, voluntarily, will pay the fee and reduce the tax payer's burden of this program. Now we should throw in a threat for non compliance, let's say up to $1000/day, that should get attention.
The second stage of this system will follow in a given time. It will have to do with vehicles owned or operated by government officials. The reason for this is that vehicles are dangerous when not maintained properly and in the event one should have rotten tires, a leaky gas tank, emitting fumes, and Lord knows what other dangerous thing is going on with them; we will need to take care of the problem as quickly as possible. Now each stakeholder in the EOAOIS (elected official appointed official identification system) must then have their property (car, truck, vehicle that they use) which in the future will be known as the national fleet, fitted with on star.
This way we will be able to pinpoint that property immediately and also a report must be written within 24 hours of each move of that vehicle. We will have the mechanics union get involved and records will be kept to insure that the oil and fluids are changed on time.
If a vehicle driven by a government official is found not to be fitted with OnStar or is not maintained to taxpayer's standards, we the tax payers are to be notified immediately. I believe some scanners will be needed on highways in case the car is stolen or gets into territory that it shouldn't, the tax payers will be able to track it immediately. Car lots must comply and get an OnStar scanner also to document selling or buying of each stakeholder's property and notify the taxpayer...
Now you must purchase on star for each of your vehicles whether it belongs to you or to the taxpayer. You will need to purchase soft ware for your computer to report on a regular basis. The costs of this will have to be paid out of your own pocket because the taxpayer is demanding it but is in no way willing to finance it. I believe less taxpayer control is what you would wish any way.
Now if this sounds ridiculous try reading the NAIS proposal. However we do need to monitor lawmakers more closely and we wouldn't be dealing with this now.
Yours Truly
A concerned Freeper
Cheers!
...even my cat is against NAIS!
And (also seriously) try to stymie them by bringing up the pollution of all the tags in all the dead birds...?
Cheers!
