If they do execute this guy, we should immediately withdraw our troops.

Yesterday the Afghan prosecutor basically withdrew the charges, saying he was probably not mentally fit to stand trail, some kind of face saving ploy to get out from under, and still get along with the local Muslim radicals, I guess

"If they do execute this guy, we should immediately withdraw our troops."

Withdraw our troops, stop all financial aid, nuke 'em into a pile of glowing rubble. That place is no better than it was before we "won" the war. Terrorists still operate with impunity and islam still oppresses everyone, only the players have changed. Islam cannot coexist with any religion.

I agree with the withdrawing of troops from Afghan if they kill this guy, or do anything other than release him. What was the sense of freeing these people from the Taliban if they are going to be just as bad as the people they were freed from?

I think it would be more expedient to simply use our troops to prevent the execution. I have a feeling that is what Condi suggested when she said that it was discussed "in the strongest possible terms." Leaving is not an option.

Don't withdraw the troops. To do so plays into the hands of the bad guys. Have you forgotten why we conquered that country? Wont bin Laden be back there the day after we leave?

Roll a heavily armed US convoy down main street, Kabul, right to the jail where Abdul Rahman is being held & take him to safety, OUT of Afghanistan. In addition, tell Karzai the money is TOTALLY cut off til the constitution is changed, & OBTW, here is the list of changes.

If the Afghanis don't like it, declare martial law, throw out the current government & constitution, & tell them we will occupy their country until they learn to respect human rights - 100 years if necessary.

IMO, the US is the military occupier of a conquered country & the current gov't serves at the pleasure of the US, & if the US is displeased, out it goes.

Bush says he wants to instill democracy in these countries. Well, respect & protection of basic human rights is fundamental to democracy, & MUST be instilled in the people PRIOR to the formation of a democracy. I hope the US learns from this when installing the new gov'ts of Syria & Iran in the near future. Otherwise, why bother?
