During a trip to the Inland Empire on Friday, Sen. Barbara Boxer, D-Calif., didn't hold back her opinion of Rep. James Sensenbrenner, R-Wis., and an immigration bill he has introduced. "It's anti-faith based,'' Boxer said. "It's inhumane. Sensenbrenner is inhumane.''
Speaking to reporters at The Sun, Boxer said the border desperately needs increased enforcement, but once somebody slips past, the issue is different. Help from the federal government for education, prisons and health care is then needed, she said.
Sensenbrenner's bill HR-4437 would call for employers to check documents submitted by new employees against a federal database to verify their authenticity and make it a crime for citizens to help undocumented immigrants.
Boxer said a jobs program needs to be created for illegal immigrants that would help them receive proper documentation. She said it is important to match undocumented workers with appropriate agricultural jobs.
"If they are clean and pay taxes, we need to get them on the path to legality," Boxer said.
The senator fell short of calling for amnesty for the 12 million illegal immigrants in the United States, but she said she did not support President Bush's guest-worker program.
"It's exploitation of the worst sort," she said.
The Senate Judiciary Committee has until Monday to draft a border-policy bill.
In exactly what way, dear heart, is Boxer expressing a platform different than that of the Dems as opposed to the evil republicrats of 20 years ago? Please give details and clickable links to prove your points of JUST HOW MUCH MORE DEMOCRATS CARE ABOUT OUR BORDERS THAN REPUBLICANS. I wait with bated breath, because since 1992 I've been waiting for the "tough" Democrats to make good on ONE, let alone more than one of their promises.
Separation of church and state, Babs.
Boxer said a jobs program needs to be created for illegal immigrants that would help them receive proper documentation.
There are job programs available all over the place with several of them conveniently located in many of Home Depot's parking lots. Proper documention can already be had in major flea markets and other assorted gathering spots.
She said it is important to match undocumented workers with appropriate agricultural jobs.
Appropriate agricultural jobs? What if they don't WANT "appropriate agricultural jobs?"
"It's exploitation of the worst sort," she said.
Get your red hot license to exploit! Only 99-cents!
" JUST HOW MUCH MORE DEMOCRATS CARE ABOUT OUR BORDERS THAN REPUBLICANS"
This is weird...you pasted my whole post...and I never stated the above which you said was my point. I think were on the same side except you talk of the "evil republicrats of 20 years ago" and not the evil republicrats of 20 minutes ago.
Janet bumbleebutt or whatever her name is... the Gov. of Arizona... sent national guard troops to the Arizona border. So we know that these fiendish little 'RATS are willing to play hardball in an election year. There is one example of RATS beating REPS. But don't get all stoked up on me for pointing that out. My problem and my post was about the whimpy, money laundering GOP law-makers who are not going to lead the country on border issues at this crucial time.
I am so PISSED! But I don't wanna get booted. These idiots are makin' me crazy!
Fine. Send them all to California where Boxer is. The place is already being over run. A few million more won't hurt. Sorry California
Well stated!

I have yet to see such a politician.
THAT is the real question I'd love for you or anyone else to answer (and no, Pat is anti-Semitic and I happen to BE of Semitic descent) You just happened to be the dubiously lucky poster who hit all the right buttons with exactly all the right key phrases at exactly the right time...for that I apologize :-|
OOPS. Please make that "Are the evil republicrats of 20 Minutes ago so much different than those of 20 years ago? " and the entire post will make more sense.
It's the years of bovine compost buildup, especially the hypocrisy of those who SUPPORTED the same policies they are now decrying when they thought President Bush was the only possible game in town as far as getting their pet policies implimented, that are seriously getting to me.
The illegal aliens and the criminals who hire them and the criminals who harbor them are getting out in the street making their desires known. It is way past time those of us who support the rule of law and secure borders did the same.
Join Veterans for Secure Borders, The Minuteman Project, Latino Americans for Immigration Reform, Mothers Against Illegal Aliens, and other groups protesting amnesty for these criminals, and demanding the government protect our borders.

FReepers should be at this rally in strength. Saturday, May 6, in Crawford, TX.

I thought you might like to see the truth behind your example. Notice the part about REPUBLICANS forcing the governor to send the troops due to her insistance that the Fed fund her troops!

Guard troops sent to border

PHOENIX - A fight between the governor and her rivals in the legislature whether she "shall" or "may" use the Arizona National Guard in a state of emergency has stalled plans to send troops to the border.
Gov. Janet Napolitano signed an executive order yesterday sending more Arizona National Guard troops to the Mexican border, but the commitment of troops was contingent on funding from either the legislature or the federal government.
Republican lawmakers in the Senate passed a bill on Tuesday trying to force the governor to put more National Guard troops along the Mexican border. The House fast-tracked the bill, passing it in less than 24 hours after the Senate approved the measure.
The bill gave the Democratic governor $10 million to pay for more troops along the border, but it came with strings attached. It required the governor to station more National Guard troops along the border to fight illegal immigration if she invoked specific language when declaring a state of emergency.
The language of HB 2701 dictates that if the governor declares a state of emergency for the "protection of the lives and property of citizens of this state resulting from an increase in unauthorized border crossings and the related increase in deaths, crime and property damage," she must call in the National Guard.
Napolitano said in her press conference yesterday that the requirement forcing her to send in the National Guard violates the state Constitution. She said as the commander in chief of the National Guard, only she can give them orders, not the legislature.
"It mandates the use of the guard, and there is no need for that. I've already signed the executive order to send them there," Napolitano said.
Napolitano said the Republican measure was only trying to "score political points" and promised to veto the bill.
This is a shift in policy for Napolitano, who said in January that she wanted to use federal dollars to pay for the troops. Napolitano said her efforts to lobby to Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld and Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff for federal funds has failed to secure funding.

NEVER trust satan... or his political party!!!

How in the hell do these clowns keep getting elected?
We don't need to get them on the path to legality. We need to kick their illegal asses out and put Boxer on the bus with them.
That's what I've been saying since 2002, but our views are unpopular. Possibly, most people'd rather scream "not in my backyard" than actually DO anything constructive.
A political stunt by the Governor of Arizona. She holds a BS in political trickery.
40 democrats plus 13 republicans
It's Constitutional Law 101, and I NEVER HEAR ANY OF THESE NUTBALLS SCREAMING ABOUT OUR POROUS BORDERS SCREAMING AT THEIR OWN STATE GOVERNMENTS!
Do they now wish to do away with the 11TH Amendment as easly as they did away with Posse Comatatus after Katrina?? Lets just burn the flipping Constitution and call ourselves the United American Socialist Republics instead!
After all, nobody PAYS ATTENTION to what their congresscritter, governor or even president is either saying or doing as far as border policy anymore, so let's all just be China, build a Great Wall and keep out all the Foreign Demons and get it over with.
Boxer really needs to stay off the pipe... and the needles.
"Once they slip past... it's different"
What an idiot. It's against the law!
Boxer said a jobs program needs to be created for illegal immigrants that would help them receive proper documentation. She said it is important to match undocumented workers with appropriate agricultural jobs.
Hunh?
Dang! I can't disagree with any of that!
