This is Savage's 12th anniversary show... it isn't that good compared to a regular day though.

Caller: ( on verge of tears ) I'm sorry..I have so much respect for you - you really are a great man.
Savage: ARG!!!!! GET HER OFF MY &^#$%*% SHOW!!!! THATS IT - I"M RETIRING. Oh...I need a drink so badly.....

The best of Savage would be the first 60 or so books, but you have to read them in the original pulp magazine order, not the order that Bantam rereleased the paperbacks in. Doc did evolve a little over the years, so some do favor his later adventures, but I like the original ones myself: The Man of Bronze, the Land of Terror, Brand of the Werewolf. Ah, those were good.
Avoid the comics. They were just too silly.

I always just assumed he was doing his show drunk.

When he calms down and applies logical thought and facts to an issue, he's usually right on the money. Too often, though, he's just a conservative version of Al Franken/Randi Rhodes. Just a lot of needless screeching and wailing backed by less-than-logic and almost no facts.

Mike tells great stories without a doubt. Be it his childhood memories ( which are among my favorites ) to his stories about Teddy.
He makes some great points on a regular basis and I used to listen from 7PM - 10PM here in Boston. The station moved him to late night which goes head to head with The John Batchelor show which I try not to miss.
Like many conservatives, Rush was the one who introduced me to AM talk radio and I'll forever be greatful. When he goes into ' blowhard ' mode I cant listen. His ego gets the best of him sometimes and I'm not buying his line of how he does that to annoy the left.
Talk show I never miss is Howie Carr.
