The article specifcally excluded circumcision for religion. Those who are jewish are free to practice their faith. (christianity dealt with this during the early days when the apsotles adressed conversion without the need for circumcision) I believe moslems advocate circumcision for religion too.

When I see this type of crap intrude into what may have been an attempt at a lucid argument, where someone claims "all" of anything, then the 'Moonbat issue polarization detector' goes off and I begin to have phantom pain in my foreskin.

The impression I had from the article that the author is saying that the only reason for circumcision was faith and that those of faith are free to do so if they so pleased.

The only thing the author is really saying is that there is no real science to back up secular circumcision.

Unfortunately, young girls (usually Islamic) around the world have been forced to undergo female circumcision. This is when the clitoris and inner labia are cut (with no anestesia) and in some case the labia majora is cut off and they are sewn almost shut with just a small opening.

The current move away from elective, non-therapeutic circumcision of boys finds its roots in common sense. It is not a liberal issue or a conservative issue. It is a common sense issue.

I don't think of it as wee-wee cutting which it's not. I like to think of it as body sculpting.

You whole arguement that people in the Western states did away with circumcision "because there is no compelling reason to do it", negates just ONE fact. That the MORMONs made up a few scripts to say to not do it.

In Moroni 8:8, in the Book of Mormon, Christ, following his death and resurrection, is speaking to the peoples of the western hemisphere, known as the Nephites and Lamanites.

"Listen to the words of Christ, your Redeemer, your Lord, and your God. Behold, I came into the world not to call the righteous but sinners to repentance; the whole need no physician, but they that are sick; wherefore, little children are whole, for they are not capable of committing sin; wherefore the curse of Adam is taken from them in me, that it hath no power over them; and the law of circumcision is done away in me."
