Of course, when he uses the word 'power' he actually means 'electrical power'. Uh, right...
Iranian opposition groups are being funded under the "Iran Democracy Act" coupled with other sources.
When the time right is right they shall rise up. Iran in some respects is a more brutal police state then Saddam's former control over Iraq, thus obviously any clandestine operations must proceed with extreme caution.
Recall Iran is ethnically diversified. The repressive Mullah led dictatorship have butchered various leaders from ethnic groups over the years, such as the Kurds in the North along the border with Turkey and Iraq, and Arabs in the Southwest in the heart of Iran's oil rich areas along the border of southern Iraq. Iran Ethnic Map
The longer we "dialogue" with the Iranian terrorists the greater the nuclear and chemical weapons arsenal we will have to confront.
"Delusions and the delusional demogogues who have them."
The removal of the leading Iranian terrorists is what is required. Easy to say - harder to accomplish, but very possible.
Let's just hope the eventual Iranian showdown is not in reaction to Iran nuking a major U.S. or Western city.
can't help but agree with you. this aint america anymore.
He's partially right actually. The strategic advantage near current vital resources, the backing of Russia and China, and the suspected support of terror networks gives them capabilities that can cause serious harm.
They are in a position to cause some havoc over the next 10-20 years should they continue uninterrupted. They are a serious threat and I hope we wake up to it.
Another crucial geostrategic problem is unless the Iranian missile systems can be swiftly neutralized, Tehran's Muslim madmen could attempt blasting the Arabian and other major oil fields sending oil prices toward $200 a barrel, in conjunction with attacking oil & natural gas supertankers exiting the Persian Gulf through the Strait of Hormuz.
The extremely unstable nature of Ahmadinejad and his most fanatical high level government hacks is the greatest danger, since that rabid jihadist bunch firmly believes they must begin the "cleansing of the infidels" prior to their Mahdi-man showing up to finish the rest of us off. Madness with nukes, multi-fold!
It may come down to this ....
Yes. He is, really. Literally. Actually.
He thinks it will earn him respect from the rest of the world. To him, it is SO "natural" and "normal" to despise the Jews with such a visceral hatred, that he assumes EVERYONE feels the same way, but only HE has the "courage" to speak the words.
Truly pathological dynamics going on there -- but that's NOT what scares me the most.
What I am MOST concerned with is something that hit me like a ton of bricks last night, when all the pieces suddenly fell together.
Some items for your consideration:
* The stories about Iranian acquisition of working tactical nukes appear to be more credible by the day -- and the MSM and government are running from the story like the plague. The "Government-Press Complex" is in full-run-away mode from that report.
* Iran allegedly "produces refined uranium", and thus, "has joined the nuclear club" (code for "has the bomb"). The government produces an macabre circus, with dancers prancing about with (alleged) containers of uranium, as the nation is whipped into a "Hitler in the Square" froth, their confidence bolstered by the state, the uranium, and, said in all but word, "the bomb."
* A couple of days later (today), the "twelver" lunatic running the country starts issuing unambiguous threats to Israel.
Now, here's how I see it. "YMMV", but I suggest considering what I am about to say before dismissing it. The way I see it, He's HAD "the bomb" all along -- quite a few of them. He needed to buy time to get them fitted to his delivery systems (note the reports of expensive nosecone retrofitting work they performed recently). He needed time to get the "fine details" worked out, so that the warheads could be mounted, target systems programmed (balanced for the new throw-weight), etc., etc., etc.
So, he bought time. He played the old "Maybe I'll negotiate, OK? No, wait -- you offended me! I will NOT negotiate. Oh, you come sucking up to me? OK, good -- we negotiate. Wait! You offend me again, negotiations off! Ah, good, you come to senses. OK, negotiations back on -- but new groundrule -- Iran makes no concessions -- WEST makes ALL concessions. OK? OK! Let's negotiate! What, YOU won't negotiate? Well, maybe I reconsider. OK, I reconsidered. I will negotiate. But wait, you offend me AGAIN..."
You'd think "The West" would tire of this song and dance, but no, we let him drag things out, running us back and forth in the double-corner of the checkerboard.
He kept it up as long as he needed to keep it up, to buy time to get his "stuff" done.
Then, he became suddenly even MORE belligerent.
Now, he has his ducks in a row -- but, he needs a cover story. I mean, he's all along said that Iran had no nukes, and no nuclear ambitions, other than electricity generation.
His intended audience -- the uneducated "masses" of the Middle East -- are not going to know a few milligrams of mildly refined uranium from a multi-kilogram "soccerball" quantity necessary for an explosion. And, if you note his delivery at "The Circus", he presented it in terms of "Now we have THE goods!"
He worked to create the impression that now that Iran is "in the nuclear club" -- and "proved" it by having his dancers scamp about with the Precious Goods held treasured in their hands -- his people are supposed to think that, wow, he has THE uranium! Now, any time he wants, he can put it into the bombs, and destroy the infidel!
Yes, I know. This is stupid, puerile BS -- but that's the level that Middle Eastern propaganda operates on. Remember the "documentary film" showing how Those Filthy Jews murdered Sweet Young Arab Boys to drain their blood to make Matzoh? Tell me THAT is any LESS stupid and puerile!
So, it's a good cover story (in his twisted little mind). He shoots off his warheads, and then tells his people, "I never thought I would need to do this, but praise to allah, I had this uranium, you see, and the need was great, so I ordered our scientists to put the uranium into the bombs, so that we could cleans the world of the Zionist Entity, and..."
Yes, it's worse than the worst comicbook drivel. But, he'll try something like that -- and his audience likely WILL lap it up.
To his mind, he has covered all the bases. He eliminated any stories about his having purchased the nukes, since he has now "revealed" that Iran, "new member of the nuclear club", was forced to take their uranium (the uranium -- all of a few milligrams of it -- held up as if it was the Flag at Iwo Jima), and put it into "the bombs."
In the process, he "proves" that "Iran really DOES know how to make the uranium!", and, ensures the fealty of his subjects, and the admiration of "The Arab Street" (even though as a Persion, he despises Arabs -- and vice-versa.)
In short (yay! :) I see MAJOR Ugly Quotient potential shaping up. And I think that's why OUR side is acting a bit out of sorts. They know we are poised on the cusp of something potentially VERY ugly.
I think it entirely possible for the nukes to start flying at any time -- ANY time -- with no warning.
I hope the USA is able to deliver a killing blow BEFORE that happens.
Further, his behavior is similar to Saddam's when he did not have a bomb but thought it would be easier to obtain than it turned out to be. Khimir Hamza and Saddam's son-in-law Hussein Kamel both provided hints that Saddam had been deliberately misled on that account. One wonders what Ahmadinejad has been told. These aren't technical people, after all, and if you're threatening your technical people they'll tell you what they think you want to hear.
The crunch is that we won't really know until the mushroom cloud appears.
