Not so old school...The M3A1 was on active US service until about 1990, and I believe it soldiers on today in other countries.

Of course, when we invaded Haiti, a lot of Haitains had Garands...we were outgunned!

I carried one for two years.
I don't know why my artillery unit had them, but they were cool. Clunky and not very sexy, but they worked.
