Thugs mark Hitler's birthday by attacking, stabbing Safed yeshiva students marking Passover in Ukraine
An emissary of the Union of Jewish Communities in Russia was the target of an attack by skinheads Saturday evening in Dnepropetrovsk, Ukraine, Ynet has learned.
The man, Haim Gorbov, who studies at a Safed yeshiva, returned to Ukraine as part of a Seder organized by the Union of Jewish Communities in Russia and the former Soviet Union. After Gorbov's condition improved he was released from hospital.
It appears a gang of skinheads in the city sought to mark Hitler's birthday, April 20, by attacking a Jew. Dnepropetrovsk's Chief Rabbi Shmuel Kamintzky said that at first the skinheads tried to attack a group of yeshiva students in the city center, between the synagogue and the yeshiva in which they studied. They managed to escape, however, and the thugs then set upon the 20-year-old Gorbov.
Gorbov, who has Ukrainian citizenship, studied at the Or Avner school and after graduating arrived in Israel in order to study at a yeshiva in Safed. Rabbi Kamintzky said that at first the thugs struck him with a bottle on his head, but when they realized that the hat he was wearing was protecting him against serious injury they stabbed him in the chest and fled.
The President of the Union of Jewish Communities in Russia and the Soviet Union, Lev Laviev, called on the Ukrainian government not to be satisfied with another investigation into an attack on Jews after they take place.
"The rise in anti-Semitic activity demands immediate and determined preventative action. Whoever doesn't invest in fighting skinheads who are attacking minorities will have to deal with them when they increase the level of violence towards the whole of Ukrainian society," said Laviev.
Two months ago security guards thwarted a stabbing attack on the central synagogue in Kiev, Ukraine. The incident took place when a 65 year-old man arrived at the synagogue and asked to meet the rabbis. While speaking to the guards, the man pulled out a knife and said that all Jews should be killed.
The guards overpowered the attacker and handed him over to the police.
Meanwhile, Dnepropetrovsk's Chief of Police Alexander Beveilov, who is himself Jewish and who took part in the Passover Seder organized by the Jewish community in the city, promised Rabbi Kamintzky that police would hunt down the skinheads responsible for the attack.
Jewish Agency head Ze'ev Bielsky said that "we are at a situation 60 years after the Holocaust where Jews in Ukraine and Russia live under nonstop harassment.

Why 2 jews in Russia like Berezovskii and Khodorkovskii stole nation wealth by bribing the goverment beurocrates and no voices of condemnation from jewsih community of Russia? Why they did that in Russia. And no such things in Israel?

Hate to break it to you, but the Jews of the Ukraine and Russia are not some 'johnny come lately' needing to prove their loyalty. They've lived in both countries since their beginnings.

A) Pogroms were state organized- the capital of the state being in Moscow. It was executed by the officers, soldiers and policemen- the Black Hundreds, not the average villager or urbanite who had Jews for neighbours.
B) Sure I know why the pogroms happened in Ukraine and not in Russia. Because the enlightened Russian Imperial government had something called the Pale of Settlement - which controlled Jewish movements and didn't allowed them to live in Russia. Jews didn't live in Russia- there weren't any Jews for Russians to kill.

They took advantage of the corruption and bad laws in Perestroika and afterwards. Berezovsky and Khodorkovsky gave a lot of money to the Jewish community.
Israel has property rights and is less corrupt than Russia.
As for the Jewish community in Russia, there are rich an poor. However, since Ashkenazy Jews culturally value education and on average have a higher IQ, they tend to do better.

Russians value education too. My both parents graduated from univercities. SO am I and my sister. Now my nephews and my daugther attend univercities of their choice.
So we not jews but cherish higher education.
The difference of Berazovskii and Khodorkovskii and me that they both live in Russia as guests but I as host. So I cann't do some things to Russia as they allow themselves to do. But I'm sure they won't do those things to Israel like I cann't to do them to Russia. It is obviously because they are jews but I'm russian.

Not at all. Some Ukrainians are guilty as charged. But it's a fact that the Pogroms of the 18th and 19th century were instigated by the Czarist regime as a classic imperialist tool. Rile up the peasants against the Jews, use that fear to control the Jews. Who wrote the "Protocols of Zion"?
I myself have had many a heated argument with friends and relatives on the topic, and antisemitism sickens me. I've stated here that for Ukraine to have any hope of a successful future they MUST put aside all the old hatreds and prejudice.

Mazepa did you listen yourself what accually you just said?
You just said that jews were to be "pogromed" in Ukraine or anywhere where they lived beacuse they just live there. No matter else. You just said that jews was "hated by anyone" then to be "pogromed" by anyone.
So ukranians are not guilty of thier "pogroms' but it is Russia' imperial goverment which "compelled" ukranians to live together with jews.

BTW it wasn't Russia' goverment who dwelled jews in territory of Ukraine. I thought it was Rzhech Pospolita who did it. And Cossacks of Khemnitskii pogromed jews BEFORE they even asked to join Russia.

It is not me who claims it. It is Khmelnitskii cossacks who claimed it. Those claims is noted by thier historians.
They complained that jews was "factors" (means the
managers) of polish landlords. And Ukranian cossacks was double exploited by polish landlord and jews.
Jews held alckogol trades in Ukraine and sped alhogolism between them. And jews gave the money under high interest so created poverty.

It was falsified book. I do not beleive it. I know many jews personally. My aunt is jewish. SO my cousins are jewish too.
But I think that interethnical differences exist. And the problem will be there.
IMHO Jews in Russia has only 2 options: to assimilate compeletely and become russians (many did) or emigrate (many did). Or live under possibility interethnical trouble. Some continue because they make money in Russia.
