STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE
In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Six
AN ACT prohibiting New Hampshire from participating in a national identification card system.
Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:
1 Prohibition Against Participation in National Identification System. The general court finds that the public policy established by Congress in the Real ID Act of 2005, Public Law 109-13, is contrary and repugnant to Articles 1 through 10 of the New Hampshire constitution as well as Amendments 4 though 10 of the Constitution for the United States of America. Therefore, the state of New Hampshire shall not participate in a national identification card system; nor shall the department of safety amend the procedures for applying for a drivers license under RSA 263 or an identification card under RSA 260:21.
2 Effective Date. This act shall take effect 60 days after its passage.
I see a big collision here of state's rights vs National security.
Then again, if the feds were willing to do anything about stopping illegal immigration and providing benefits for them then this wouldn't be an issue.
There was that local sheriff in New Ipswich who arrested some illegals for "trespassing". I believe he couldn't get anyone at the federal level interested.
Any chance in heck of this being passed?
This bill has been introduced. It has not been passed, and I expect it will not be passed.
Many bills are introduced. Few are passed.
Live free or die bump.
This is great -- unless you're from NH and you want to board a plane.
IMHO, we already have a national ID card..it's called a social security number..
"IMHO, we already have a national ID card..it's called a social security number" YEAH, AND YOU CAN BUY ONE AT THE COUNTY FAIR...........
A fried found his SSN was being used by multiple illegals and they are already making claims against the number. He was told that it will take years to straighten out and there may be no funds available for him under that number when he retires. But illegals are not harming anyone, right?
Maybe they can't secede from the union but can they be expelled?
And I move there in 37 days from Massghanastan.
I LOVE N.H.!
Interesting.
you answered YEAH, AND YOU CAN BUY ONE AT THE COUNTY FAIR...........
I answer: What is it that can be done to a National ID card that would render it 'secure" that can't be done to our SS cards - reissued with the security components?
And I hope being a Freeper you'll help defeat the other Massachucetts lefties who move to NH and busy themselves trying to raise NH taxes and regularly petition to eliminate the "Live Free or Die" motto.
I will fight alongside you my friend!
It's all but a done deal. The NH House has already passed it; it moved out of committee in the NH Senate with unanimous support; and Gov. Lynch has said he will sign it. Hopefully this will open the floodgates for other states to follow suit. Many of them are waiting to see what the DHS guidelines on National IDs are gonna be before they act.
bill to block New Hampshires participation in the national Real ID system picked up momentum yesterday with a unanimous Senate committee vote and support from Gov. John Lynch.
If a nationally uniform ID card with a common machine readable technology gets implemented, you will find out the difference real damn quick.
