Rehabbing Rush
Newsweek ^ | 04/30/06 | Arian Campo-Flores and Evan Thomas

Posted on 04/30/2006 12:26:32 PM PDT by Pikamax

Rush was on a roll. He made fun of polling showing that Hillary Clinton has a higher rating when she uses the last name Rodham instead of Clinton.

He lambasted a Republican proposal to alleviate high gas prices with a $100 rebate check and accused Congress of pandering. "The more I think about this," said Limbaugh, "the more like a slut I feel." He extolled the patriotic new movie thriller "United 93." He criticized U.S. immigration policy for favoring uneducated laborers over highly trained technicians. He jauntily discussed the etiquette of cigar smoking.

And he thanked his listeners, the 20 million or so "Dittoheads" (so called because they agree with Limbaugh's firm and fierce conservatism) who tune in every week to 600 stations across America. "The loyalty and support that all of you have contributed to this program just blow me away," said Limbaugh. "Regardless of what's going on in the country or the world, you are always there."

Obviously the authors have never actually listened to Rush. "Dittos" means that you love the program and enjoy listening, NOT that you agree with everything Rush says or that you even consider yourself a conservative.

"The loyalty and support that all of you have contributed to this program just blow me away," said Limbaugh. "Regardless of what's going on in the country or the world, you are always there."

Too bad this "rush wannabe" took that statement out of context. Rush was extolling the virtues of his audience for their generous contibutions to his main charity drive, which he has done once a year for 15 years.

The writer of this "article" is a POS.

Evan Thomas is among the most snobbish, elitist, condescending
liberarls there are.

I am just rubbing my hands in glee. Can't wait for El Rushbo to turn his atomic howitzer on him tomorrow and reduce him to smoldering ash ! Can't wait.

You are so right .. and these people are just trying to recover from another of their bloopers about Rush being arrested. They panicked and took it on the air (before checking out the facts) only to be deflated (again) when they found out it was just a formality.

Poor pitiful drive-by media - they get more arrogant and ignorant every day.

Once again Newsweak gets it wrong. We are called ditto heads because when we call Rush we say dittos Rush meaning that we hope that his show continues on for many years. Evan Thomas you just truly blow.

Hey Evan you idiot, typical of who you liberals are. Dittoheads are not necessarily those who nod their heads in agreement to everything Rush says. Dittoheads simply enjoy the show.

All in all, quite a fair article. Surprising. Rush did indeed learn his lesson from DeLay, and it was a brilliant stroke: if all the liberal weenies want is the mug shot, give 'em a doozy.

Still, Inquiring Minds want to know, and I'd be interested in reading the whole, real story of how he split with Marta, etc. I think there is still more to this, although not necessarily bad for Rush.

At any rate, I will repeat what my wife said when Rush announced he was addicted: "We should all be addicted. If that guy could do his job that well on that level of medication, then perhaps we should all get hooked."

In fact, it reminded me of the famous WKRP in Cincinnati episode where they were trying to demonstrate the dangers of alcohol and reaction times. So they were giving Dr. Johnny Fever shots, then a Highway Patrol was checking his reaction time, and the drunker he got, the quicker and sharper were his reactions!

These Newsweek Guys are just condescending liberals and are trying their best to destroy Rush or any other effective Conservative!

Have you seen any recent articles in Newsweek about Teddy Kennedy's Drinking & Driving Habits?

I heard about 30 seconds of Savage on Friday and he said that Rush has single handedly destroyed the Republican Party. (Man I do like Savage, but I sure hope he misspoke or was being sarcastic.)

It's called jealousy. Savage doesn't have what Rush has and never will - because he's a nutcase.

Actually if you read the full article they do mention that it was for the charity drive.

The rest of the article is actually a bit more fair than the introduction.

Rush has destroyed the Republican Party ? The Republican Party is where they are today, because of Rush. To be precise Rush has, relatively speaking, done more to destroy the foes of the Republicans, than to build the Republicans.

Mike Savage is just jealous of Rush's success. He even uses Rush's name on his web page to promote himself ("To the Right of Rush, to the left of God") When have you ever heard Rush use someone else to promote himself ? (Except for GOD from whom he has borrowed a copious amount of talent)

I'm glad that the demonrat media ALWAYS reminds us that deafness can be caused by drug abuse when writing about Rush...I tend to forget (like I tend to forget that john fatuous kerry served in Viet Nam and require constant reminders from the demonrat media). I still don't think addiction to necessary pain killers can be equated to recreational drug use, but that is another topic. Hope Rush can now untie the other half of his brain and give the demonrats and RINO's hell.

You know that they've had that headline on a hair trigger for two years now. It was bound to go off.
