Among the mostly fawning news coverage of Monday's "Great American Boycott" there was footage of a protester with a sign that said, "The sleeping giant is awake." Despite its oxymoronic syntax, the sign may have been far more prescient that the bearer realized. We don't believe the open-borders crowd can in any way be described as a sleeping giant. It's pretty vocal, whether it's gigantic or not, and it always gets tons of favorable media coverage.
No, the real sleeping giant is the American people. Sold down the river by both political parties and a federal government that steadfastly refuses to protect them, millions of Americans have had enough.
Can we just take a moment and be real here? Have you stopped to think how preposterous it is to come here from another country for a better life, find that better life complete with free health care and education, then make demands on this country? Think about it.
It's like breaking into someone's house at the dinner hour, sitting down at the table and complaining because the food's not tasty enough

If I were to sneak into Mexico,
Si you fuera a Mexico illegalmente,:
set up residency there,
establicara' residencia alla,:
slap a USA flag bumper sticker on my car,
si pondria una calcamonia de la bandera de los Estados Unidos en my carro,:
and then demand the government there
y despues demandaria que el gobierno alla:
issue me a driver's license
me diera una licensia para manejar:
what would the response in Mexico be?
cual seria la respuesta en Mexico?
This will hit home. If they can look you directly in the eye and lie to you, or attempt to evade the question, slug 'em. If they give you the honest answer "Oh, you'd be beaten up, arrested and unceremoniously dropped into the nearest carcel (jail)," then thank them for their candor on the subject.
My $0.02. YMMV.
Sauron
What boycott?
Sinko de Mayo!
And claim they're "oppressed," to boot. Once that claim is made by a people from the third world, whether or not the claim is true, and especially if their "oppresors" are "the white man," the game is over -- guilt-ridden leftists automatically flock to their "cause" like flies to dung and determine that cause to be a sacred one. Then the PC machine cranks up, the race pimps go to work, and the situation soon becomes virtually unmanagable.
Have you looked at Mexico's immigration policy lately? You should, I would be happy with the same policy here.
"We can't figure out why the protesters don't direct their anger at the government of Mexico - which is rich in natural resources (including the big one - oil) and should have no trouble providing for its own citizens."
Oh no? We have tons of Mexican crime up here in Columbus. A deputy sheriff was murdered by an illegal here last year. rapes and DUIs are skyrocketing. Oh, and the knives. These people love to cut each other.
No security threat? Yeah, right. DEPORT,DEPORT,DEPORT.
NO MEXICO VACATIONS!
They showed us what life would be like without illegal aliens.....
.....I, for one, liked it!
Go home illegals, let us enjoy life.
"No, but Michelle Malkin suggests we all start responding to RNC letters asking for donations by sending them a "Bush Peso" or Cero Dinero that you can find at Michelle Malkin's Reconquista 101 post."
LOL! Better than my response of just scrawling the answer to my question---instead of theirs---on top of their stupid survey! Then I got so disgusted I didn't bother to send it back.
"There is a organization called 'not in our name' headed by hispanics who came from other countries or whose parents came from other countries, who are speaking against illegals, and the danger. They, as well as I, do not want our children and grandchildren to live with bars in their windows and doors, nasty dirty streets, high crime, etc."
This is good to hear about. I know that the majority of Hispanic Americans share your point of view. This is demonstrated by the fact that the majority of Hispanics voted to make bilingual education illegal in California.
I believe the Left utilizes discrete intimidation of selected individuals and groups much more frequently than most people realize. I feel that the Left, for example, has practically buttoned up the black community. Between the Leftists on one hand, and the large black criminal class---allies of the Left, on the other hand---I feel most blacks who disagree with the Left think it is better to be silent.
I have been assuming that similar efforts will be undertaken within the Hispanic community. How successful this might be there, I really don't know, being quite unfamiliar with that community. We have almost no Hispanics where I live, though I did live in California for about 3 years or so.
"And claim they're "oppressed," to boot. Once that claim is made by a people from the third world, whether or not the claim is true, and especially if their "oppresors" are "the white man," the game is over -- guilt-ridden leftists automatically flock to their "cause" like flies to dung and determine that cause to be a sacred one. Then the PC machine cranks up, the race pimps go to work, and the situation soon becomes virtually unmanagable."
Well described. Add to the equation the various "reasonable" arguments that spring up in favor of illegal immigrants, including in the editorial page of the Wall Street Journal. The attack machine is well honed. Many of the people carrying on the fight for the left work for nonprofit organizations. Generally, these organizations have some specific purpose the people contribute money to sustain. However, these people are generally allowed to use part of their working hours to support leftist causes.
Actually, I've been getting a little discouraged lately thinking about how the world wide left fits together at how effective it is.
Even well-meaning conservatives become ineffective vis-à-vis a particular cause when they veer into something that is not correct. And I believe there are leftist agents working in the conservative movement to pull people for these various dead ends.
Sometimes it is hard to see how we are going to win.
