Poll: Conservatives Cutting Approval Rates

Angry conservatives are driving the approval ratings of President Bush and the GOP-led Congress to dismal new lows, according to an AP-Ipsos poll that underscores why Republicans fear an Election Day massacre.

Just 33 percent of the public approves of Bush's job performance, the lowest of his presidency. That compares with 36 percent approval in early April. Forty-five percent of self-described conservatives now disapprove of the president.

Just one-fourth of the public approves of the job Congress is doing, a new low in AP-Ipsos polling and down 5 percentage points since last month. A whopping 65 percent of conservatives disapprove of Congress. A majority of Americans say they want Democrats rather than Republicans to control Congress (51 percent to 34 percent). That's the largest gap recorded by AP-Ipsos since Bush took office. Even 31 percent of conservatives want Republicans out of power. /

I absolutely blame the GOP for Bolton. Luger was weak and was ambushed by his own party member when they were going to vote Bolton out of committee. One of the Republicans (forget his name, from Ohio) cried for goodness sake.

The Democrats looked focused and united, the Republicans weak and divided.

Nor does this president, unlike the last president who couldn't make a move without one.

Polling - The art of creating self fulfilling prophecies based on selective data and political bias favorable to the opinion of the pollster and desired use of the poll.

Polls are the very reason that we will not have another President Clinton. She lives and dies by them and would not take a chance of losing.

In the case of Bolton the Repub. Senate knew a recess was coming.

My only question about several other filibusters is: Where were the mattresses, and Frist/McConnell shrewdness/leadership at?

They hid like pansies in a bar fight. Never mind pressuring the red state Dem Senators, let us just get rolled over and quit pushing the agenda.

"Oh no, the dems and moderates won't vote for closer, let us bend over again and not take the fight in front of the American people by refusing to adjourn until we pressure them as much as we can".

And who is to blame for all this nonsense? Not the media, not the RATS, Not Clintigula, Not Hillary, but

The RINOs, White House, and the party shills who advocate for open borders, pill bill, etc etc.

Here's a liar....

Candice Strong, a conservative from Cincinnati, said she backed Bush in 2004, "but I don't agree with the way he's handling the war and the way he's handling the economy. I think he should have pulled our troops out of Iraq."

Who are they trying to kid? This is a Kerry voter.

Angry conservatives are driving the approval ratings of President Bush and the GOP-led Congress to dismal new lows, according to an AP-Ipsos poll that underscores why Republicans fear an Election Day massacre.

If they fear it so much why are they intent to screw us at every opportunity?

"This tells us we've got our work cut out for us," said Sen. Sam Brownback, a conservative Republican from Kansas who may run for president in 2008. "The key for us is to show restraint on spending and on dealing with immigration."

Says the out of touch RINO declaring his support for amnesty.

Republicans counter that they will do better than polls suggest when voters are forced on Election Day to choose between candidates in their particular House and Senate races.

In otherwords, the Democrats are worse! beautiful election strategy. [sarcasm]

The woman has her wet finger in the air 24/7 trying to detect her stance on the latest issue.

The flip-flop on the border issue is one of her latest.

"Conservatives staying home will end the careers of good conservatives. "

Unfortunatly they'll be swept out with the trash when the voters go to clean up the RINO mess.

Don't get me wrong, I am not defending Elizabeth Dole. The Dole's are highly overrated.

" A lot of people are convnced that the Bush admin has done nothing about borders and immigration, but that is ridiculous."

Why is that ridiculous?

The numbers say the economy is at an all time high, yess. But most of the people I talk to think differently. Over 3/4 of my friends and family think we are headed to recession in 2007. High gas prices and real estate bubble are mentioned often. In fact I have hear the following tow statements, "Yeah it's booming, for the investors, ceo's and the bankers. But not for anyone else." and "They got to be faking those numbers."

A persons perceptions are their reality.

I agree with you. Conservatives are giving the thumbs down to Republicans because, by and large, they're a pack of spineless weasels who have been snatching defeat from the jaws of victory for far too long.

That said, the Democratic Party has been reduced to a shambling Frankenstein monster of special interests sewn together by the one thread that unites them: rabid Bush hating. That's sufficient for keeping your base together, but it's not the stuff that inspires a nation to rise up and vote for you.

The Republicans are an utter and complete embarassment, hence the low poll numbers, but the Democrats are little more than a pack of howling zombies, each groaning mindlessly for their own pet cause.

"Nobody is voting for Bush again."

Wow, that's so not fair! Oh well, I guess I'll just have to vote for the other guy - by the way, who is that 'other guy'?

As well they should fear a massacre. I cannot afford their "compassionate conservativism" (ie: spend like a crack whore and ignore the borders) anymore.
