Eye witness saw him drinking...

I used Mapquest to find the route from the Hawk and Dove bar to Kennedy's apartment. The image is here, and if someone could post it, I'd appreciate it. Heading west on C Street, he could've turned right on either 2nd Street or 1st Street to get over to Independence Avenue.

Mapquest picked 2nd Street, and Kennedy really should have, too. Instead, he continued west on C Street, weaving badly and forgetting that on the other side of the intersection with 1st Street there's a barrier in the road. Post #549 on this thread has a picture of it. Instead of turning right onto 1st Street, he plowed into the barrier.

This was half-way between the bar and his apartment. Notice the location of the Capitol. If he was headed from his apartment to the Capitol, what was he doing down on C Street?

You would think his hair would be his first priority. What the hell is that on his head?

I should've added to the last sentence. What was he doing down on C Street, when he said he got out of (presumably his own) bed and headed for the Capitol?

and the culture of corruption continues. Did the DEMS not understand what a double edge sword that were using when they begin that campaign?

SO did the people of Rhode Island know about his addictions and mental problems before they voted for him?

No.

I think it's a squirrel from the Capitol grounds who hates drunk Congressmen and attacked him...

Just when I think the nutjobs at DU couldn't get any more hypocritical, they always seem to amaze me.

"And no one on CNN said a word about courage....
The courage to stand up and admit to a problem, and the good it will do many others than someone famous has just done something so hard. He saved some lives today, no doubt about it. Someone, somewhere, will be inspired to try and deal with a similar problem, because of Patrick Kennedy's admission. I admire him for facing it. His life can't have been easy, with the problems his mother and father had."

I remember NO Freeper being such an apologist for any Republicans caught for any crime or foible. But at the DUhmpter, the majority is actually PROUD OF THE FACT THIS LOSER KENNEDY COULD HAVE KILLED SOMEONE ON THE PUBLIC ROADS! How can some people be this stupid?

Thanks much for posting that. Driving distance was a half mile, but he could've walked it in less than 10 minutes. Or maybe not - the cop said "his balance was unsure", which might be the best euphemism I've ever heard for "staggering drunk".

I'm reading this thread late, so pardon the delay. I stuck with a girl friend of mine in college who had bi polar. And I mean there was no doubt about it. There were times I thought I would need professional help.

The cycling, the grandiose plans, buying sprees, promiscuos sexual behavior, believing she didn't have to study because she was brilliant, the alchoholic binges, drug use. Then the inevitable crashes (depression), and suicide attempts, wanting to quit school and 2,3,4,5 am phone calls desperate for a ride home from somewhere.

The pendulum never rested on reality, it was either far to the right or to the left. Finally, I talked her into getting some professional help (I was at my wit's end) they started her on Lithium. I wanted to kiss the doctor. What a difference it makes when they stay on their meds. huh?

And what a difference it makes when they decide to quit taking them. Fortunately, after 14 years she has decided that it will be a life long thing for her to do. She has made great strides, nothing is a rose garden, and probably never will be for her,but at least she's in the real world more days than not.

I do wonder about the reliablity of the Kennedy in question about being true to his medication regime. He seems to still be acting as an addict. I quess in this case, it's not so good to go someplace where 'everybody knows your name'.

Best wishes to your family and you for taking care of your kids.

"What the hell is that on his head?"

He's critter-sitting Traficant's wild kingdom toupee while Jim's in the slammer.

I'll bet my last Mustang convertible that's a wig on Patches' head.
