Inland Valley Daily Bulletin Inaccurate (Border Patrol rebuts Minutemen report)

Inland Valley Daily Bulletin Inaccurate

(05/09/2006)Statement Today’s report by the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin, “U.S. tipping Mexico to Minuteman patrols,” is inaccurate. Border Patrol does not report activity by civilian, non-law enforcement groups to the Government of Mexico. During a detention of a legal or illegal immigrant that produces an allegation of improper treatment, Border Patrol reports the allegation and allows the appropriate consulate to interview the individual in custody.

This is consistent with the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations of 1963 that provides consular access to foreign nationals being detained by a foreign government. This is the same agreement that protects United States citizens when they travel to foreign countries.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s Border Patrol continues to appreciate the efforts of civilians who contact law enforcement authorities regarding suspicious activity.

Oh, thanks. I'm glad you remembered, and explained why it went away. I was starting to think it was all a bad dream. I don't remember stuff disappearing from my ping. LOL

A PR piece from the border patrol itself?

As opposed to an article by a woman who's now not answering her phones?

Hypocrite.

If not, let me put it to you: why don't YOU give Bush the benefit of the doubt?

Because given his past actions and statements regarding immigration and the "vigilantes", it's easy to predict a future pattern of behavior.

So if they get killed, they get what they deserve for being out there? Man, this is one of the absolute coldest threads I've ever read.

It's just their veil being lifted and their true intentions showing. Don't be alarmed.

Would you see them as "heros" if the decided to take their lawn chairs into Baghdad to spot terrorists for our soldiers? I would call them complete idiots. They are complete idiots stumbling around on a border that is a very dangerous place even for armed border patrol agents.

So, going forward, is there one single presidential candidate on the horizon who is going to take a position on immigration that you agree with? And don't name Tancredo because he hasn't got a chance in he!! of winning anything.

Mars to MJY, It hasn't been debunked. Bush believes in open borders and you cannot deny that. Everything else you may say is window dressing.

Umm...where did you read that? What time is it? And just how do you know she's hiding like you unquestionably imply?

You need to look in a mirror before YOU of all people call ANYONE a hypocrite.

I believe that thread was started by me. I saw the article originally posted in Breaking News but when I clicked on it, it was deleted. The reason given was "title does not match headline".

I then posted the article with the a matching title but this thread was created a minute or so before mine. It got almost a hundred replies but was pulled due to being a duplicate. I'm not sure who posted the original article.

Your question is just soooooooo un-American.

Why would an American want to believe a story that debunks a story that portrays our US Government as spying on it's own citizens to a foreign country??

Duh????

And, the fact that so many FReepers were willing to believe this to the point of asking for an impeachment is pathetic...

Do you not realize that if Bush was as awful as a lot of freepers say he is...that he could have LIED months ago..and not be honest about his desire for immigration.

He could have come out totally against any guest worker program (even though he campaigned saying he wanted one)...JUST to SHUT UP THE CRITICS...and get his NUMBERS way up.

But, since he has intergrity, he stays true to his beliefs. Even though I personally would rather have a much stricter border policy..and even a fence, preferably, I am not going to bash Bush about it to the point of believing a CORRUPT Mexican government over him.
