Wine is fermented grapes. Wining is what one does, when they drink wine. Whine is what children and some adults do, when they are petulant and don't get their own way. Whining is what some do, when they want what they aren't getting.

And your point is? "Rose" was wondering about the correct spelling of "wining", as in "wining and dining" (or, as you said, "the drinking of wine").
