I searched but did not see a thread already open for tonights speech. I think this is the most important speech the President will probably make for the remainder of his term.

This could turn into a whack-a-troll thread. All immigration trolls that would like to participate should post here. It'll be interesting to see if we mods can whack the trolls faster than they can sign up new accounts.

That was no accident.....
Here goes the talking points. Many I disagree with.

That's pretty funny, really. President Bush was brought kicking and screaming to the "border control" debate. His and Republican poll numbers dropping like a lead balloon, the Conservative base abandoning the party, bricks being mailed to Congress, etc., had everything to do with it.
Keep in mind that controlling the border, is different from guest worker paths to citizenship. The latter is all that he has been for.

He won't mention the F[ences] word. 12,000 border patrol agents for both borders. The NYPD has over 35,000 personnel. Bush should be ashamed to mention the pathetic number of 12,000.
The very fact that 6 million illegals have been sent back is a sad statement of the enormity of the problem. That works out to approximately 1.2 million per year or 120,000 a month. Another 500,000 illegals avoid capture annually and make it in to the US to stay. We are being invaded and all we can do is add 3000 agents or another 1000 per 8 hour shift.
It is more like 40 million.

REALLY! They switched to the Oval Office where Bush was practicing, then he just stops and looks stupidly into the camera... then they switch back to Wolf Blitzer and he could hardly contain his amusement.

I find it disappointing that he's reading the speech that was leaked this afternoon.
Same old same old.
Doubling the size of our border patrol isn't nearly enough.
