France Names Street After Mumia Abu-Jamal

POSTED: 11:13 am EDT May 16, 2006 UPDATED: 11:24 am EDT May 16, 2006 A street in a Paris suburb has been named in honor of Mumia Abu-Jamal, who was convicted of the 1981 murder of a Philadelphia police officer.

The Abu-Jamal has been a lightening rod for controversy here for two decades.

"In France, they see him as a towering figure," said Suzanne Ross, co-chair of the Free Mumia Coalition of New York City, who was part of an April 29 ceremony to dedicate the Rue Mumia Abu-Jamal in the city of St. Denis.

Abu-Jamal, a former radio reporter and member of the Black Panther party, was sentenced to death in 1982 for the shooting of 25-year-old Daniel Faulkner.

He has maintained his innocence.

The 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals last year agreed to consider three counts of Abu-Jamal's appeal: allegations that there was racial bias in jury selection, that the prosecutor gave an improper summation and that a judge in a previous appeal was biased.

"In France, they see him as a towering figure,"

Do the Frogs revere Jamal because they believe him to be innocent or do they revere him because they know he did the deed?

"In France, they see him as a towering figure," said Suzanne Ross, co-chair of the Free Mumia Coalition of New York City

Just shows you how totally screwed up France is. Just wait for the Rue du Osama. That'll be next. Followed by Place Zachari.

Suzanne Ross gotta be a piece of work too!

Another reason to boycott the French.

I think we should pull all our troops out of France, and then Germany. Then, as we turn off the lights, we should tell the Germans that

a) The French hate beer,
b) The French think German wines are swill,
c) The French consider the Germans to be without honor, and
d) The US will never come back to France's aid ever again, no matter whose troops are folling up the Champs d'Ellyse.

But that's just me.

Did they name the street "La Rue de Wesley Cook"? Or was it "Rue d' Murdering Cop-Killing Scumbag"? "Vie du Worthless Piece of Gutter Trash"?

Re: Naming a street after "Abu-Jamal".

The namers of this street are sycophantic fatuous fools. They buy time with those who must literally and I mean literally, hate French people. Not even the contempt by certain groups , which might keep to non- interference can exist permanently. Violence bought off, will keep coming.

Meanwhile WESLEY COOK (real name) is rotting in jail. Today we might remember quietly. Officer Daniel Faulkner . He was 25 years old when senselessly cut down.

I thought we still had a few there... but, let's antagonize Germany, leave, and let history repeat itself.
