Hear, hear! I agree 100%.
Just the other day someone responded to a comment of mine by saying calling the President "Jorge" wasn't disrespectful. If you believe that then you are either purposefully obtuse or just plain dense.
They serve our country, they make the ultimate sacrifice and we throw them to the wolves.
He is working as hard as he can to help the GOP to victory, but too few here can accept the brutal logic behind his proposed solution.
I agree it stinks. I would much prefer to have the Republicans show support for American citizens. I would meet at dawn this November like 2004. I just can't do it. It basically comes down to passing Sincenbrenner's bill in the house. That bill supports me so I support it. This is that important of an issue. If some people don't see it that clearly then they have not been effected by it the way I have.
Great job, Pukin, you've summed it up. I agree 100%.
Could you post links to this? It looked pretty benign to me.
Well said.
Thanks for the update - I had a phone call
cspan2 says it passed 83-16
That'll punish Bush.......ggggggggggrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Best post I have read all day, aside from mine (naturally.) :P As I have said, the most important issue for any consrvative, indeed any American, should be prosecuting the War on Terror. Anything that undermines are ability to pursue the War on Terror, and giving the Democrats a forum to obstruct the president does this that, is not just stupid it's extremely dangerous.
Gee, how about both? Ever heard of walking and chewing gum at the same time? Look into it.
I do continue to be a bit more optimistic than you.
If by November the state of play is as follows ...
(1) The House has stymied a guest worker plan ... so essentially no legislation has passed except some increased funding for border security.
(2) The President has actually taken some serious steps to secure the border ... and there is evidence it is working.
(3) We have seen footage of the Guard troops building barriers and fences at critical border crossings.
... then I'm not so sure the absence of a fence will cause mass defections in November.
Now, if guest worker gets through Congress but the fence doesn't ... put me down for the apocalyptic November scenario.
Vitters failed. I don't remember the count. Too let down.
>>The way that Rove is destroying the Democrats, is to peel away the reasonable from the wacky. Right now, the wacky have taken over that party, leaving reasonable Dems with nowhere to go but here. I dont see why we cant welcome their refugees, re-educate them, and send them back out to do our bidding?<<
Its also worth remembering that until 2000, self identified Democrats have handily outnumbered self-identified Republicans and yet Republicans only 2 Dems have been elected President since 1970.
There is a reason for that - the party that can appeal to rational indendents without giving up too much of their base or sacrificing their ideals wins almost every time, absent a serious third party candidate.
Do you find it distasteful that we have the right to protect our borders to the extent of utilizing armed border guards and land mines? I don't.
Do you find it distasteful that we have the right to protect our borders to the extent of utilizing armed border guards and land mines? I don't.
What do I do then?
Rule number 1:
1) All I can to keep the America hating evil abortionist Democrat traitors out of power.
Rule number 2:
2) When in doubt, see rule number 1.
"Right now, our real enemy are the Main Stream Media, the Democrat Party, and all who follow and support them. If you want to jump-ugly on someone, why not start with those leaky bastards and give our side a break"
Does 'and all who follow and support them' include our RINOs? If not your post does not compute
YES! 83 - 16 --- several democrats voted CYA's "ayes" ---
Reid even changed his "no" to "aye" at the very last second.
