"Twenty percent of Nashville is Illegals? Sorry don't buy it."
Five percent of NC. Over eight million population, over 400,000 illegal aliens, and more every day.
I'm not supporting third party candidates. I am supporting the GOP House members who are opposed to Bush regarding his immigration agenda. You know, the guys actually facing an election this fall, unlike Bush.
The election this fall is no more a secret then the agenda of those trying to drive a wedge into Republican/Conservative voters.
Generic "support" is one thing. If your specific GOP Congressman votes for the compromise Senate / House bill, will you vote for him or her in November?
The stridency and venom began years before this legislation was written, though I agree the president should be demanding specific changes to the Senate plan to bring it in line with the house plan. Try again.

They are licenses given by North Carolina to illegal immigrants who live in New Jersey but who come to the Tar Heel State by the busload or vanload to get the document that allows them to drive, work, bank and rent housing, said Sonia Barria, the court administrator for the town of Dover, N.J.
"We ask them. We speak Spanish and we ask them, 'How did you get a license?' " Barria said in a phone interview last week. "They say, 'We went on a bus with a group of people and that is how it happened.' "
Her court confiscates North Carolina licenses from illegal immigrants under the theory "they were probably obtained under false pretenses," said Barria, whose town has 15,115 residents and covers 2 square miles in Morris County.
I love jellybeans...all but the clove ones; they're so strong they make all the other flavors nearby taste like cloves no matter what flavor they're supposed to be. The really good black licorice ones do that too...though I like those bought plain, in a seperate bag.
Differences of opinion about Terri's condition did not bother me but when I was accused of having no compassion and no heart by those without a clue as to my personal history by people threatening Michael Schiavo, the judge and the doctors it became too much. T
hey did not know that I had only a couple of years before lost my beloved and beautiful wife at the age of 43 being sustained since only by faith in God and our wonderful sons.
They did not know of the fountains of tears shed and the fruitless search to cure her even to the point of pouring money into cures even quacks would not promote grasping at every straw. Yet, I was part of the Culture of Death who cared not for the afflicted and the impaired.
It was then that I realized just what a threat to FR such people are and how I must do everything I could to make sure they were confronted at every point. This site is simply too important to allow it to be taken over by fanatics and frauds.
I've often thought that we should have a single "true believers vs pragmatists" thread, where we could plug in the issue of the day. It would be over a milion posts by now. Mostly "RINO!" "Unappeasable!" it's funny that no matter what the issue, we always seem to break into the same camps.
So having gotten mauled over your attempts to say people on my side of this issue cannot win elections, you now must attack my credibility, Mr. Civility? I voted for Bush twice. Got out in 2000 in Colorado in the protests when Gore tried to steal the election.
The election this fall is no more a secret then the agenda of those trying to drive a wedge into Republican/Conservative voters.
I hate to tell you this, since you clearly have either an aversion to or an allergic reaction in response to reality, but Bush is not running for re-election ever again. The House GOP members are. And Bush's demand for a guest worker program before the borders are secure is hurting their chances. Polls repeatedly show this. Polls also show GOP voters are against Bush on this issue, 52-40. Pollss on FR from members echo this, as well as posts from long-time posters who have steadfastly supported Bush on matters such as Iraq and the WOT. History shows Bush's stance here is a bad idea.
So tell me, who is driving the wedge here? My side? Or Bush's bullheaded determination to get his immigration agenda through, even if he has to get Dems and RINOs to pass it over the votes of conservative legislators?
Bush brought that on himself with not being serious about enforcement. But the rhetoric clearly escalated once the legislative process started.
I agree the president should be demanding specific changes to the Senate plan to bring it in line with the house plan.
Instead, he is counting on Dems and RINOs to override conservatives. Go figure.
Good idea and letter. Thanks.
BUMP! Why is it anyone trying to bring the debate back into debate mode gets slammed on by both sides?
PK- nice rant. But I don't think the typeface you used was around in 1972....
I munched a couple and couldn't figure out what they were...crunchy, slightly bitter and good.
Next thing I know it's 5:30 in the morning and the wife is wondering why I'd never gone to bed and who ate all the chocolate covered espresso beans. I was good all day.
I would have to weigh other factors - I do not see it as an automatic disqualifier. For example, I refuse to vote for one of my GOP Senators, Arlen Specter. I will grudgingly vote for Santorum, even though he has not been the steadfast conservative he makes himself out to be.
LOL! Mauled? You sound like a hyper lap dog that thinks it's a pit pull. Yapping, snapping at ankles and tinkling on the floor in excitment aren't exactly mauling actions.
I meant PD.
Yes, mauled. You swung twice and missed both times. My side of this issue includes the vast majority of the House GOP. You know, the guys running for re-election this year.
So much for your attempts to claim that my side is a bunch of one-percenters.
