I have made the same mistake, Miss Marple. And "Dog" is so right!

I will stop being so quiet as well, and begin "typing back" to those who are so foolish as to give unwitting support to the other side!

Excellent Rant!

Like the argument I've made to those 3rd party voters I encounter, the answer is not to jump ship, but to tidy up the ship you are on. RINOs can be taken out in primaries, and pay attention to the politics of you local area. That's where it all starts. Strive to get good conservative minded people in your city council, state senate/house, ect. Run yourself if you want. But be active in spreading conservative values.

It has gotten to the point that I come on Free Republic less and less.

That's why the trolls have been flourishing... I'm guilty of that too but I intend to rectify it.

Might I ask a favor?

In ranting before my coffee was ready, I mistakenly attributed Lincoln Chaffee to Massachusetts instead of Rhode Island. Can you fix it for me, so I don't come of as a TOTAL loser?

You take a wild guess at how many immigrants will arrive in this country in the next 25 years and accept it as a fact. Then you criticize someone for not believing it. Then you wonder why rhetoric like what you are pushing is not listened to. Think about it for a minute. Do you have any idea what the number 200,000,000 represents? That is double the current population of all of Mexico. Yet you seem to honestly believe 200,000,000 immigrants will arrive here in 25 years. Wow.

Pukin, not bad for a Navy guy. Sign me up.

Excellent sentiments, Pukin.
I echo them. I wish I could have voted for President Bush once, let alone twice (I am Canadian and live in Calgary). I think he has been doing a tremendous job, and I especially enjoy how he makes liberal heads explode.
The civilized world needs him, the United States of America - and it needs FreeRepublic, too! Three great weapons in our battle of civilizations.
Keep up the good work. And thanks, JimRob, too!

Cheers
Jim

I reserve the right to criticize the president and any other Republicans when I believe they stray from conservative principles. I don't think that makes me a Bushbasher or disloyal. I reserve the right to support the president when I think he's right. That doesn't make me a Bushbot or a lockstepper. Unfortunately, there are many on this forum who will tolerate no criticism of the president, and then there are those who will tolerate no support of the president. Effem both.

Thank you! Excellent thread, thanks for reminding all of us, we all need a boot in the butt every so often.

I can say and very clearly to all within earshot of this thread whether they be MSM, or the DU or whoever.

Just cause we argue amongst ourselves do not think there is a rift in the party because nothing could be further from the truth.

Because we speak in anger don't even think of causing a split....Ain't gonna happen!!

The illegals threaten politicians to get their way well we can no longer do the same or we will be like the illegals. ..speak in haste regret in leisure. And I have to admit to speaking out way to many times in anger.

The illegal alien ruining this country is a strong emotional issue with a lot of us and I will be the first to admit that. And at times if we feel betrayed we must increase the faxes to our politicians. Hopefully we will make a difference.

Well said Pukin, we can't allow the MSM to turn us against ourselves and convince us to stay home.

Quote: "It's that horse-barn thing. Too late."

Its not so much the expression of frustration with the President, but how it is expressed that gives away the motives of many on this site (and I am not including you), namely, to infiltrate and demoralize. The President is not beyond criticism, but to treat him like the enemy is going a bit far. He has not had a good second term so far, but does that make him the enemy?

Similarly, this "horse-barn" attitude expressed by many is something that I find a bit suspicious. It says to me that despite what Bush does from here on in, he will not be given a chance. So, in other words, if Bush were to do exactly what the bashers on this site want going forward, it would make no difference because he didn't do what they want from day 1. The Miers nomination is a prime example. Yep, he screwed up with that one, stuck to his guns too long, but in the end he listened to his base and recovered nicely. Yet, many point to the Miers nomination as some kind of unforgivable sin to bash Bush with.

That betrays other motives. It isn't where you start, it is where you finish. Yep, Bush hasn't vetoed one fat spending bill yet. But, if he starts now, I am not going to write it off as "too little to late." Instead, I am going to treat it as, "better late than never." I think that most who truly support the agenda they allege to support would adopt the latter outlook.
