In regard to Snowe/Chaffee/Collins/Graham. If we lose those seats, we lose control. As much as I want to send them packing, I wonder if the message we want to send would be clear (ie. we want you to be MORE conservative not less) not to mention my deep suspicion as to our ability to elect anyone more conservative. In some of those cases, I think we are really lucky to just have a seat in our column.

Chafee is targetted, not the others. And you'll notice it isn't the GOP or even FR that's after him. At any rate, if control of the Senate revolves around keeping Chafee as a faux-Republican, it's a lost cause anyway. Mostly because in an near-even Senate split, just like Jeffords, Chafee will eventually go independent or sell out to the Dims anyway since he votes with them all the time anyway.

Chafee is almost to the left of Kennedy. And he's unpopular. And weird. If ever there is a RINO to make an example of, he's it.

If we want Snowe and Collins and Graham to toe the line on conservative votes, we have to get Chafee this year so they know we mean business.

That's exactly what the Libertarians said a few years back in Washington state about Senator Gorton...we ended up with Senator Maria Cantwell-at-all and turning over the Senate. The funniest thing was, as soon as Gorton went down to defeat they were on here crowing about it.

Who is running against him in the primaries? I have to say that I really loathe the guy, however I haven't paid as much attention as I should because I am busy trying to keep Cantwell at home.
