The same people who decried slick willie's attention only to his own supporters and thought the rest of us should go to hell are now demanding that same corrupt alegiance to themselves at the expense of the entire country.

Hypocritical in the extreme.

Slick willie spent his last 4 years in office disgracing himself, the presidency and our country while still watching the polls and trying to keep the majority happy with him???
President Bush has absolutely no reason to watch the polls anymore, national or Republican. He can base all of his decisions on what he feels is right or wrong and what is best for all of America, not just the American who voted for him. Lincoln did this during his first term and almost lost the election. He didn't care, he was not only a righteous man, he was also right.

Your memory and mine are in conflict. I remember most of the anger at slick was due to the fact that he was a political shape-shifter - his views seemed to follow his polls . The first year there was dont-ask-don't-tell and Hillarycare, but from then on it was all about triangulation.
