Jim Robinson wrote the foreward for a book called "Hillary's Secret War". Free Republic is featured prominently in the book as are other conservative web sites.

In the 90's, staffers in the Clinton White House posted here. So did staffers from The Washington Post and other liberal news organizations.

They are opinion shapers. we have all seen screen names recently that we've never seen before although they signed up years ago. They come here to stir dissent and create an atmosphere of anger and drive a wedge between Republicans.

We're seeing a lot of that now, and anyone who thinks that the posters who are advocating leaving the party are conservatives should read the book to reach an understanding how the leftists work on web sites like this one.

This book has been mentioned to me before in this context. I may have to break down and get it.

Peach, the problem is that there are conservatives who are legitimately upset with certain things this administration has done. Falsely accusing those of us who have been GOP supporters for years does not help the conservative cause either. It just drives people away from the Party. I know there are trolls on here, but that doesn't mean any conservative who is very upset with Bush right now is a troll.

Loads of antagonistic '98 and '99 Freepers show up during very contentious times. So many show up on the same threads that the first time I noticed the phenomenon I thought disruptors had learned how to hack their signup date. I was assured that was not possible. So they have to be deepseated opinion movers as you suggest.

Bears repeating.
