Social Security for illegals OK'd

Senate blocks effort to limit benefits for those who become legal residents

The U.S. Senate today rejected an effort to limit Social Security benefits for illegal aliens who become permanent residents under an immigration reform bill being debated.

As it stands, the bill the Senate is considering would give millions of illegals a path to U.S. citizenship if they pay fines, back taxes and meet other requirements.

The Social Security proposal, offered by Sen. John Ensign, R-Nev., would have prevented illegals who become legal from collecting the benefit on wages they earned while working unlawfully.

"Social Security was not intended for people who entered our country illegally," Ensign is quoted as saying.

Countered Sen. Edward Kennedy, D-Mass.: "Their money sits in the Social Security Administration waiting to be matched with an eligible beneficiary, and once those workers establish the eligibility, how in all fairness can we deny them the credit for their past contributions?"

Reuters reported that later today senators will consider an amendment to the bill by Sen. James Inhofe, R-Okla., to make English the national language.

As WorldNetDaily reported, yesterday the Senate approved an amendment to the immigration reform bill that would direct the building of a triple-layer fence along 370 miles of the southern border with Mexico.

The Bush administration today indicated the president supported the fence proposal.

"[Bush] doesn't think you fence off the entire border but there are places ... where fences are appropriate, and then, you build fences there," spokesman Tony Snow said.

"can anyone actually believe, in all honesty, that our Government will enforce, ANY LAW in regards to illegal aliens?"

Certainly not, and as we have been told over and over, ad nauseum, we can't deport 12 million illegals...oops, I meant "undocumented workers".

We CAN, however, establish a huge layer-upon-layer bureaucracy to help sort out who gets to stay here and work, that will be fraught with corruption, waste, and typical government ineffeciencies.

Our most precious birthright is being cheapened and we are being pimped out by our elected "leaders", and we ain't seen nothing, yet. Makes sense to me.

No. You need to contact the SS Admin. re: what you have paid in and what they have on record that you'll receive. They'll mail you a report/summary. Keep a close eye on what shows up on it. If you see any discrepancy re: past employers, I would report it immediately. That's all I know to do. Someone else here might be more knowledgeable about how it works.

My view on illgal aliens is that they should all be deported. If the gov't is gonna turn its head and alow them to stay, the gov't shouldn't make them pay into a system they can't draw benefits from. If they are paying into it thru fake or stolen #'s they have committed a felony. I am also against making legal guest workers pay into the SS system. It should be for citizens.

Which raises the question, what exactly did you think Bush meant when, in 1999, he uttered the phrase, "There ought to be limits to freedom."?

More importantly, why on earth would anyone vote for someone who said it?

Once again, the government (state and federal) routinely deprives US citizens of their criminal gains through the use of asset forfeiture laws.

Please explain why Mexican illegal aliens should be exempt.

Teddy 'Hic' Kennedy's the biggest @ss in the history of the world. He's talking about illegal, law-breakers who are either illegally using someone ELSE'S SSN#, or illegally using a made-up one. Too bad the damned lightning missed.

So far mine's clean, but there are 11 million illegals working under someone else's numbers. I don't understand how the government plans to make them entitled to benefits.

Which is exactly why we should apply asset forfeiture laws to these people and tell them, "Too bad" as we kick their asses out of the country.

Guess who Bush is going to side with, Kennedy or us?

I don't know either. But any money the gov gets from illegals for social security, that the illegals will never receive, should be refunded to those states that are being the most negatively impacted by the flood of illegals, ie the border states.

It won't be, of course.

Q: "Their money sits in the Social Security Administration waiting to be matched with an eligible beneficiary, and once those workers establish the eligibility, how in all fairness can we deny them the credit for their past contributions?"

Wrong! The money doesn't sit anywhere, it is payed by the taxpayers still working and no money is stock piled for future use because the government spends in on other things as fast as it comes in, plus it is a ponzi scheme.

They shouldn't be exempt, they should be deported, but (big but), they should not be required or allowed to pay into the system. If anybody is compelled to pay into it, they should also be given the benefits. The SS admin, should report bogus numbers back to the employers to end the illegal's employment. They shouldn't issue fed ID #'s to illegals either.

He already has.

In June 2004, Bush's appointed SSA commissioner signed the Social Security Totalization Agreement with Mexico that gives, not only the Mexican illegal alien access to our SS benefits, but also allows him to apply for, and receive benefits for his Mexican wife and children, even if the wife and children have never stepped foot in the USA.

He's just waiting until he gets his amnesty program signed into law, then he's going to spring this one on us. Mark my words. The pieces are in place, he's just waiting to spring the trap.
