We do not have a problem with "free trade" across the Canadian border because Canada is a developed country with a high standard of living. Canadians are not lined up by the thousands trying to sneak across the border into the US.
The problem is that Mexico, unlike Canada, is a badly-run, third-world country which is deliberately using the US to outsource its poverty problem. That's why we need to slam the Mexican border shut, and need to worry far less about the Canadian border.
Any fool can see the difference between Canada and Mexico, except the writer of this article, apparently.

I think that a North American Confederation of states is inevitable. When it will happen is a little hard to call, but say within 25 years. Read it and weep.
