Thank goodness I finally saw a photo of the deflated balloon on TV this morning. All I heard was that they were "found inside a balloon" and that one of their mothers said they were "trying to suck the helium out."
I simply could not picture two people inside of a helium baloon, dead. Once I saw that it was one of those 8-foot inflatable jobbies, I really wondered what in the heck it was doing with helium in it. Don't those just work with an electric air compressor and a fan? My big Halloween pumpkin and my big Santa Claus did.
Perhaps you missed the "myspace" part.
well, see if I ever let you blow up my balloon!
Yeah, that's just what I was talking about in my post. I don't understand the helium part.
(And I normally spell balloon with 2 l's, except every now and then I have a lapse of oxygen intake. *Hear my high, squeaky voice?*)
WE HAVE A DARWIN AWARD NOMINEE HERE!
Looks like it's sealed at the bottom.
Kudos to whomever added the HIGHPITCHEDSCREAMS keyword. Best keyword in a while.
Given the chance, I would follow all proper safety procedures and recommendations.
a condominium balloon -- it almost sounds redundant
Kinda makes you wonder if it was latex.
Maybe the "funny guy" brought a canister of helium along as a joke.
I swear I heard FOX News report it as a Condom promotion balloon... that is why I searched out this thread.
Airhead.
Now, how long before this thread is resurrected by a grieving, offended relative? It just has that "look".
I don't think that is helium going in though. I think it works like those big jumpee things that kids have at carnivals or birthday parties.

Funniest line ever!
You're right, it looks like an air fan motor. But the balloon would need hot air to inflate. Is it possible helium is pumped in first and then augmented by air? Just a thought.
I guess the mothers of these two never told them not to put plastic bags over their heads. I really find it hard to believe that two people could be this stupid.
"Hey Linda! Ever done it inside a balloon?"
It happens all the time where I live.
