That's odd. That article attributes their deaths to helium, but the sheriff's spokeswoman says that it's one of those balloons that uses the fan at the bottom to blow it up. She also stated that the balloon has an opening at the bottom, big enough for them to squeeze their way in. A helium balloon would have been sealed, yes?
Yeah, that's just what I was talking about in my post. I don't understand the helium part.

Good point! maybe the balloon just suffocated them when it deflated.
