Well, since most "poor" people are fat already, I say the guns and butter program is more than working now. ;o)

Right, if you consider $0.01 of every dollar getting to the children a good deal. But one cent is better than nothing or is it?

W already signed those bills. And he'll sign the Senate "immigration" bill that will cost us another $500b in the next 10 years.
