Do any of the technologies that are being examined reduce power output at higher temperatures? Thermal runaway can be bad news, and the higher the energy density of a storage device, the worse news it is.

What I want to know, is do they retain efficiency and output at -40 degrees? I hate changing a tire or chaining up in a blizzard at night with a dying flashlight...

"...and traffic continues to flow well
on the beltway and inroads, some delays
from the South, but overall...uh oh, looks
like we may have a thermal runaway inbound
on the North Loop, all lanes assumed closed."

The device being developed at MIT's Laboratory for Electromagnetic and Electronic Systems isn't a battery, but a capacitor
