FBI investigating donated cars (Louisiana)

FBI starts probe of donated autos :

When carmaker DaimlerChrysler AG donated 40 trucks and sport utility vehicles to Katrina-crushed governments in southeastern Louisiana last September, company officials never imagined some of them would wind up in the hands of private nonprofits.

In fact, the company said Thursday that it made clear to the cities and parishes that received the gifts -- collectively valued at more than $1 million -- that they were for the exclusive use of public agencies or government units, such as police and fire departments. Dave Elshoff, a DaimlerChrysler spokesman, said those instructions were delivered, both verbally and in writing, to then New Orleans City Councilwoman Renee Gill Pratt, who signed for 20 of the cars when they were delivered to Baton Rouge.

Yet eight months later, Gill Pratt would arrange for the donation of four cars to two nonprofits to which she has close ties -- donations that on Thursday, four days after they were disclosed, led City Council members to call for the cars to be returned to the city and the local head of the FBI to announce a criminal probe of the matter.

In the case of Gill Pratt's donations, the city attorney's office prepared cooperative endeavor agreements with Care Unlimited and Orleans Metropolitan Housing. The president of the second group is Mose Jefferson, brother of Bill Jefferson. The agreements were all signed by Mayor Ray Nagin.

We all just need to embrace and celebrate the diversity in our nation. It makes us all better and stronger. The culture of LA and NO is being restored after being crushed by the FEMA giveaways.

They can "instruct" all they want to but if those instructions weren't signed by the recipients as a condition of receiving the gifts, they are meaningless.

What's all the hub bub, Bub?

Those cars will be under water in a couple of months anyway.

What they need is buses. Air-conditioned buses with DVD players if you please.

Gill Pratt had Nagin sign off on the deal so it's cool.

So put on some Jazz and have a Blackened VooDoo.

It's The Big Easy Baby, relax and enjoy the porkin'.

Let's not paint the whole of Louisiana with the brush of Katrina-fraud-waste-and-abuse. Just the NOLA metro area is insane..............

Just another example of political crap in chocolate city, USA. Even when the leaders get something free, the bastards still try to steal it! Cool, says a lot for the brothers and sisters in N.O., doesn't it?

No, every voter throughout Louisiana is to blame!!! I mean, come on, one year has passed and Governor Blanco, Ray Nagin, Mary Landrieu, Mitch Landrieu, William Jefferson and the entire Congressional Black Caucus has not accomplised one thing that is worthwhile for the area and community. Alabama, Mississippi and Florida are leaving Louisiana in the dust. I was with a Black woman this week who came to Texas after Katrina, a single mom with two kids. She is living in North Texas, and told me she will never, ever go back to NOLA. She tells me that the schools in Dallas blow the NOLA schools away (What Schools In NOLA? There are none worthy of the name!!!) And...her children are ten times safer in the big "D" then in NOLA (What police force)? The voters of Louisiana had the opportunity to throw out the entire useless, criminal Democrat Party after "Katrina", but you did nothing, so as far as I am concerned you endorse the incompetents that are turning Louisiana into a welfare state and third world country. And...you deserve to get what you voted for!!!

LA has 7 Congressional Districts. 5 seats are held by Republicans 2 Demokratz. They have 1 Dem Senator and 1 Rep Senator. As would be expected, the 2 Dem Reps are from the NOLA area. The State of LA is basically held hostage to NOLA voters, but now that NOLA voters are dispersed thru-out the US, the political climate may be changing. Landrieu won't be up for re-election until 2008. The Rep Senator is safe until 2010. Jefferson is toast. The fall elections may be a breath of fresh air.............

Thank you. I live in Metairie right outside New Orleans. I survived the storm but some of my neighbors didn't. All we want to do is get on with our lives. We have gone through tremendous hardships and don't need to be lumped in with NOLA.

I have always had a fondness for Louisiana as the folks there are some of the friendliest, warmest, and giving people you will ever find anywhere in the world. It saddens me to see a magnificent city like New Orleans being unable, through design or whatever, recover enough of its' sensibilities to function as a city should. NOLA is one step away from martial law, and that might be the only thing that saves it. Federal troops are needed there, and all of the riffraff and thieves including, but not limited to, politicians, law enforcement, etc., need to run out of town and not allowed to return. Until that happens, the city of New Orleans is doomed to complete failure.

All you had to do is rise up and impeach the entire Democrat scum after Katrina. Nothing happened, why? But.....fear not, the great state of louisiana will rid itself of the Democrat vermin over the next couple of years. Bobby Jindal will become Governor, and the state will be solid red for the forseeable future. I just hope you good Black folks realize how they have and are being screwed by the Democrat Party and especially their Black racist leaders!!! They deserve better after fifty years of Democrat welfare state slavery!!!

There is no constitutional method for "impeachment" of representatives or senators. They may be expelled by the House or censured by the Senate, but the voters' choice is there to stay until the next election, this November............
