Newspaper Accuses Politcal Author Coulter of Plagarism

The syndicator of Ann Coulter's newspaper column is looking into allegations that the right-wing pundit has lifted material from other sources.

"We are reviewing the material and expect to have a response some time next week," Kathie Kerr, a spokeswoman for Universal Press Syndicate, told The Associated Press on Friday.

The New York Post and the Web sites Raw Story and the Rude Pundit have raised numerous questions about Coulter's columns, which appear in more than 100 newspapers, and her best-selling "Godless," already notorious for the author's calling four 9/11 widows, who supported Democrat John Kerry for president in 2004, "harpies" thriving on their husbands' demise.

Kerr said that the press syndicate had not discussed the allegations with Coulter, who was not immediately available for comment Friday. The publisher of "Godless," the Crown Publishing Group, issued a statement saying it had reviewed the "the allegations of plagiarism" in her book and "found them to be as trivial and meritless as they are irresponsible."

"As an experienced author and attorney, Ms. Coulter knows when attribution is appropriate, as underscored by the 19 pages and hundreds of endnotes contained in 'Godless,"' Crown's senior vice president and publisher, Steve Ross, said in the statement.

It's so funny and telling that that they are blasting away at her about everything but not even trying to defend the base charge...that they are Godless.

I still have yet to hear or read ANY liberal fight her on her assertions about liberals. That's the REAL story here....

And you won't hear it either. They can't face truth and fight it head on; they can only lie and name call. Its all they've got. I dont think there is an original idea within a group of any 100 liberals.

How could she plagiarize something that the newspapers don't have guts enough to publish in the first place?

And, pray tell, how do you 'plagiarize' something that isn't first copywritten?

If she can pass the swimming test she qualifies!

"I wouldn't call it plagiarism, but I don't think she'd win a libel suit, either. "

Depends on if they are included in her 19 pages of credits.

"It's considered sleazy in journalism circles. "

It must be the only thing considered sleazy. How many times have we seen different news articles published by different companies that are a compilation of information from other stories. Seems like every other breaking news story in the MSM has pieces from other articles.

Baseless Liberal witch hunt.

"Just throw out accusations."
That is how it works. here's a quote from one of the kos idiots:
"Let the charges hang out there so everytime she appears on the MSM for an interview, they HAVE to ask her about the plagiarism charges. Let it sink into the national subconscience that Ann Coulter is a plagiarist... even if it's not true."

"Coulter's latest controversy includes a high-tech twist. The New York Post enlisted the Berkeley, Calif.-based iParadigms to run the author's material through its iThenticate software program, a web-based plagiarism detection system."

Hmmm, fishy sounding. Let's run it through the Henchster De-Spin-erator and see what happens:

"Coulter's latest controversy literary and financial success includes a high low-tech twist attack. The New York Post enlisted paid the Bezerkeley, Calif.-based iParadigms to run the author's material through its iThentfornicate software program, a web-based plagiarism truth detflection system."

There, much better. I knew that De-Spin-erator would fix it right up.

In both the citedassages, Ann was reporting facts, not opinions or analysis. THere are only os many ways to report a fact, and most of them have limited literary value. The "fact" that Ann reported "facts" with language similar to previous reports of the same "facts" suggests only that Ann and the newspaper writers both wrote clear sentences.

Coulter is a lot of things, but it doesn't look like plagiarism is one of them.

Wouldn't the proper word be "plagiarist?"

Has Ann Coulter commented on these charges? If not, she should.

Ann has declined comment, and it's smart that she doesn't speak out. Liberals are trying to goad her into speaking out so they can report that "Coulter vehemently denied the charges today..." She knows the allegations are BS and that over time it'll be resolved. No need to give the libs satisfaction.
