Posted on 07/08/2006 8:19:34 AM PDT by Grendel9
The syndicator of Ann Coulter's newspaper column is looking into allegations that the right-wing pundit has lifted material from other sources.
"We are reviewing the material and expect to have a response some time next week," Kathie Kerr, a spokeswoman for Universal Press Syndicate, told The Associated Press on Friday.
The New York Post and the Web sites Raw Story and the Rude Pundit have raised numerous questions about Coulter's columns, which appear in more than 100 newspapers, and her best-selling "Godless," already notorious for the author's calling four 9/11 widows, who supported Democrat John Kerry for president in 2004, "harpies" thriving on their husbands' demise.
Kerr said that the press syndicate had not discussed the allegations with Coulter, who was not immediately available for comment Friday. The publisher of "Godless," the Crown Publishing Group, issued a statement saying it had reviewed the "the allegations of plagiarism" in her book and "found them to be as trivial and meritless as they are irresponsible."
"As an experienced author and attorney, Ms. Coulter knows when attribution is appropriate, as underscored by the 19 pages and hundreds of endnotes contained in 'Godless,"' Crown's senior vice president and publisher, Steve Ross, said in the statement.

"Coulter's latest controversy includes a high-tech twist. TheNew York Post enlisted the Berkeley, Calif.-based iParadigms to run the author's material through its iThenticate software program, a web-based plagiarism detection system."
Have you heard any responses from her about these allegations yet? They are going after her full throttle, arent they?
Has Ann Coulter commented on these charges? If not, she should.
Interesting. Did the Post do that before or after she called them 'the second crappiest paper in New York'?
Glad to see her publisher standing by her.....
The DemonRats and the RINOS and the so called conservatives are at it again trying to destroy another conservative.
Does this qualify her to run for the Senate?
You would think it would be a simple matter to provide whatever material that was supposedly copied. But the moonbat idiots don't. They spew and provide nothing except inuendo.
Of all unlikely places, Daily Kos is defending Ann.
Ann Coulter plagiarism charges overblown

TPM Muckracker has an itemized list of Ann Coulter's supposed plagiarism, and sorry to say, there's not much there.
Coulter is a lot of things, but it doesn't look like plagiarism is one of them.
The Kossacks are enraged he would print this.
Boy, you and I have the same idea ... see # 3. i've been asking for days whether she has commented.
Somehow I would be surprised if she did this since she has to know that they want to find someone to pin on her. Why give it to them by plaigerizing?
Ann will not go down quietly.
I feel sorry for the Post et al.
It'll get ugly, but Ann will emerge victorious.
Is her book available electronically? If not they had to convert it from hard copy to electronic to use the online tool. Might this be a violation of her copyright?
They finally detail the exact passages to support their claim but they do not indicate whether her 19 pages of end notes does or does not include credits for these passages.
After... maybe they'll check out Biden when they have time. sarcasm/
I suspect they are hoping for some payback for the Ward Churchill thing, and Ann is the most visible target. I don't think this will go anywhere.
Just throw out accusations!
Isn't that how it works?
If they bring nothing, after they have already publicly accused Ann, they themselves should be held accountable in court.
I'm taking bets right now that when Ann does respond to this, the words JOE BIDEN will be factored prominently in there! lol!
The libs CANT STAND Ann, cuz she is right on. Tough tutus.
They will throw whatever they (they think) they have at her, and she will emerge without a spot on her!
Sorry, Doomierats, we are winning....
